Hi guys!
I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.
I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.
So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe
If you go to the acceptance e-mail, there will be a link to fill out the background check information. The only thing you really need to do is go in a get fingerprinted. They let you choose from a bunch of appointment dates, and there are even a couple that will be done at the medical campus. The times were scheduled 15 mins apart, so I'm hoping that's all it takes!
Well I went in today to accept my accelerated seat. So there is now one FT Generic seat open for someone since I declined that today!
yisy4u thanks for the info. I went and got the background screening today! It was like everyone said, SUPER easy and quick. I went to the hialeah office and I took 10 mins. No line. No waiting. No appointment.
Cohen thank you SOOOO MUCH for putting the CPR website up. That helped me out so much! Ur a lifesaver! I scheduled a CPR class for 11/5 at north campus.
Also, I'd like to reiterate what someone said about getting to blue forms to make your down payment. I went to the medical campus and I had to do the same thing. So go to the new student center and get a blue form to pay the nursing student deposit and then go to the bursar's office with that blue form to pay.
Dolfinz562 welcome to accelerated! I did it for the same reason. Quicker to finish, quicker to work.
The only thing I've left to do is get my vaccines and go to my CPR class!

Thanks ZeppHead8!
I started filling out the information on the background check link, but I couldn't do the whole electronic signing thing becuase, I'm assuming i needed to update or download that java script thing. It seemed like a hassle so I told myself that I'd do it sometime this week. Was there anything that you had to print after you finished filling the information out??
On the contrary:
Is there anyone who has registered for the 10/28 cpr class at the medical campus????
P_Funk: That I know you need an appointment for the fingerprints. But like other have said there are a bunch of available dates to choose from. Once there it only will take like 5 minutes, and they will send you an email in 3 business day saying that you successfully completed your background check and you have to print that email and take it to the school.
I went today to accept my seat as well. I didn't know about the blue sheet so I went upstairs, then downstairs and then again upstairs and finally downstairs lol , but still, it was pretty quick :)
Then I went to the book store just to browse a little bit and ended up buying the lab coat, and the uniform lol :hdvwl: I couldn't help it! I also ordered the name tag which takes a month, so don't wait too much guys to get that one.
In addition, I went crazy and bought the Fundamental of nursing package. It comes with the fundamental book, another fundamental of nursing book, this one for the clinicals, so it is pretty small. A basic Intermediate & Advance skills which has 126 video skills, a Nursing Intervention & clinical skills book, and a CD...all that for $197.00 :anpom:

Yes! you have to print a form and take it to the appointment. You also have to pay online. You will probably need to fill out the info again.

! lol
Hello everyone I'm new here and received the email on Friday but didn't see it until yesterday! I was trying not to be obsessive and check my email daily lol I'll be full time in Homestead! Congratulations to everyone who have been accepted and good luck to the ones still waiting, stay optimistic! I declined a part time spot so that's one more seat available. I have been reading some of the information people have posted and I am finding it very helpful, I'm only wondering how do you guys know what books to buy already? I have no clue and when do we sign up for classes? In orientation? I am trying to get everything on that list done, so far I paid the deposit and signed up for a CPR/BLS class in homestead so now I have a reason to visit the campus since I've never been there. Can't wait for the new year and to get stated!
Hello PRISCI!i BELIEVE WE ARE ON THE SAME boat waiting the big acceptance email!I was wondering as well about the cutoff score, and nobody really knows. However ,I assume that is something around 79.7 since I saw a candidate who posted her scores 3.6 GPA AND 72 TEAS .She got in with her scores.I hope that the second round will be lower since I have a 77.58.For everyone out there DON'T get crazy just yet...We still have a chance.....I know is hard not to check MDC email every 10 min..just in case , but until the end of the week we won't get anything from MDC!GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US WHO ARE STILL WAITING!

Good luck to us all! and i agree it is definitely hard to avoid checking your email every 10 mins!
i just applied for part time, so all hopes are on this one :/
aselva,
you dont get to choose your classes, they set it all up for you. and most people know what books to get because of other forums on here, like the Fall 2011 forum where people who are already in the program continue to give feedback of how the program is and what we really need.
yisy4u,
I finally completed the backgound check online (lol) and have an appointment for tomorrow morning. Couldn't go today because I went to the doctor to do the 5-panel drug test and I have to be to work sometime soon.. Yay, I'm almost finished with everything. Should have everything for orientaton no later than the end of next week!!!
Anywho, how much did you have to pay for the lab coat, name tag, and uniform??
SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!! lol
