Florida Nursing Student (yes :) I know I'm posting in Illinois)
Hello everyone, I live in Miami and am in nursing school halfway done with the ADN program. Once I'm done I will be moving to Chicago, next year June. I have already looked into getting my nursing license in Illinois and I also know I shouldn't even bother applying until I have the Illinois license. I'm wondering if it's next to impossible for an ADN RN to get a nursing job in Chicago's hospital. I am willing to start nights, and I speak Spanish (I could only hope that gives me an edge since I won't have a BSN). I do plan on applying to RN-BSN programs in Chicago once I'm up there. Any and all tid-bits, advice, information, random thoughts would be appreciated. I would also love to make some new Chicago friends since I only know about 5 people in Chicago, my whole life is in Miami so this move will be life changing... maybe that's why I am preparing a year in advance. Thanks everyone!!

Zepphead, I got there about 10 minutes before we were let in but everyone was in groups I forgot who was wearing what and was intimidated lol so I just stuck to the one person I knew. I have been looking online for a decent light pen but most have bad reviews that's it only lasted them a week and then it stopped working. Does anyone know what's in the $99 nurse pack?

MDC Spring 2012 :)
Hey everyone so I didn't apply to the Baptist scholars program for a few reason but I just wanted to say that the questions they are asking are a lot like any interview for a hospital. I work at Jackson right now and had a few of those questions, especially the... what would you do if you disagree with a coworker. They just want to know how you work with other and how you will handle tense or stressful situations because I promise you hospitals are full of tense and stressful situations. What I've learned having to work with nurses and doctors everyday is that everyone will always have a bad day but its your reaction to it that matters to them. Who wants to hire someone who isn't a team player or someone with a short temper? This all sounds like common sense but some people may not :/ good luck with the interview!

Medical 1- Yisel (yisy4u) FT 2- Precious (P_Funk) FT 3- Katia (Blissberry) AO 4- Alex (AlexLL) FT Homestead 1-Neyla (FT) 2-Chris (Zepphead) FT 3-Marylou (madarmes) FT 4-Aselva (FT) I went last week to the bookstore and they told me the even Homestead Campus nursing students wear the uniforms that say Medical Campus on them... is this true? Is there a bookstore in Homestead? I just don't want to buy them and then end up having to buy another pair the say Homestead Nursing. Has anyone bought a rolling bag? Any recommendations?

Faith1218 thank you for the infor, I'm going to check out that other Forum. I figured we have to take specific classes but wasn't sure how it worked with schedules. What is the schedule for the full time program? I know it's during the day but would there be specific hours? I'm going to be woking part time in the evenings so depending on school hours it will determine my work hours.

MDC Spring 2012 :)
Hello everyone I'm new here and received the email on Friday but didn't see it until yesterday! I was trying not to be obsessive and check my email daily lol I'll be full time in Homestead! Congratulations to everyone who have been accepted and good luck to the ones still waiting, stay optimistic! I declined a part time spot so that's one more seat available. I have been reading some of the information people have posted and I am finding it very helpful, I'm only wondering how do you guys know what books to buy already? I have no clue and when do we sign up for classes? In orientation? I am trying to get everything on that list done, so far I paid the deposit and signed up for a CPR/BLS class in homestead so now I have a reason to visit the campus since I've never been there. Can't wait for the new year and to get stated!
