hi guys, just wondering if anybody can give some tips or advice for mcc's hesi entrance exam. also do you guys know how many questions there are in the whole test and/or each section? and do you think a 95 on the hesi and a great GPA is a shoe in already? any other info would bre great, thank you much!!
My last twelve credits span 3 semesters (two of which were at Wayne State from when I got my bachelors) so it turns out to be a 3.9 somehow. (they take an entire semesters GPA if it spans to that semester, not just part of it)
Just curious, what is your bachelors in? What made you decide on nursing?
I had 4, yes 4 students not show up for their test in my class. If this happened in a lot of the other classes there may be less people to go up against. I just can't believe that someone would put out $55 dollars and then not show. Oh well only 995 more people to beat me out...lol.How does the alternates work, you just have to wait until the last start dates to see if you are bumped up? For those who applied to both Baker and MCC, if you get into both which one will you choose?
FYI, even though 1000 register for the Hesi, admissions is based on the people that follow through and register and qualify. I think it usually ends up being around 800 give or take.
I took the HESI today, and I got a 94.9%. with my gpa less than 4.0, i'm really wondering if by now this grade is going to cut it, because I keep hearing how much scoring has improved over the last year. Is anyone else who took the test for the '09 start date willing to put themselves out a little and volunteer their score? I can't stand waiting until April, and with the req's changing after this cycle....it's gettin' crazy. Anyone? I know it won't really indicate anything, but jeez I need something to at least pretend to indicate a predictor one way or the other...I can't go on till April with NOTHING!
I would say that you are definitely in! I took the Hesi in Nov. and scored a 90 with a 4.0. I don't think I will be getting an acceptance letter but you definitely will.

Not to mention the fact that some of these students are probably applying to other schools, too, and may decide at the last minute to not go to MCC. Just some food for thought :)
:coollook:Math minds, am I thinking correctly about this:
Last year the avg. for the last five students who entered the program was 94.2(HESI) and 3.68(GPA). Our admissions packets are 50% HESI and 50% GPA, so last year the last five students, who entered the program this year, had roughly 93 out of 100 of their admission packet points. Those students who scored 93... or above are the students who made the 120 cut last year.
(HESI pts.= 94.2/100 = X/50) (GPA pts= X/50 = 3.68/4) HESI 47.1 + GPA 46 = 93.1/100 packet pts
I think 2007 was also 93 or above. I realize the scores may be different this year, but is this an ok way to look at this whole process, or am I way off.
Thank you, :wink2:

You are right. So, if that's the case, last year a person with a 4.0 & 87 hesi would be in. (93.50 overall).
Inspire,It seems, if we're looking at this correctly, this would be a simplier way to specutalte on your potential for getting into the program vs. just looking at the last 5 avg. scores in each of the two areas. Do you know someone who got in with that score last year?
No, but someone on another post here sd that was their score. But yeah, this is a great way to speculate if you got in. If you look back at the bottom five scores over the past 4 years or so (2 yrs ago scores were not avg), they are pretty consistent.
I just got access to how well the class I took the Hesi with did, on average. it was 81.73% Which is really strange considering there were 17 of us, and I know of two other people who scored above 95 in that room....hmmm. I guess it makes me feel better about my chances though...I just cannot stand the waiting, and it's only been twenty four hours since I took the darn test! sigh.

i'm not sure how the alternates work, but what you said seems about right...my gpa is 3.85...how does one accomplish a 3.9? for my twelve credits, it was A, A, and A- (AandP, ewwww) which translated into a 3.85...do they round up? that would be very nice :)
