  1. My advice if its worth anything at all is DON'T DO IT!!! Stay in your job. As a previous poster stated, the grass is always greener!
  2. Its hard to go back, but never too late! I am in the nursing program at Baker and I am 42. Study habits are hard to form with little ones but it can be done! Just work hard and balance your family life with study time and you will be fine!
  3. My Simple Plan, I have read several of your posts and I must say, you are one of the most motivational people I have ever seen! Nursing School is so tough and it helps struggling students to hear from someone like you telling them they can do it. Sometimes it seems as though the instructers are trying to knock you down every chance they get. You feel defeated and losing motivation is very east to do. Good for you that you are helping other students. We need more people like you encouraging those of us that are struggling.
  4. I certainly wouldn't move here right now!
  5. Well said, I think Gemberly will make a wonderful nurse because of her past experiences.
  6. I am just a student, not working in the hospitals yet, but I can tell you what I have heard. Many nurses that would usually be retiring are staying put because their spouses have auto related jobs. The uncertainty in the automotive industry is forcing people (healthcare workers) to stay put. Therefore, there are not a lot of new jobs available. As far as scholarships go, you may find a hospital that will give you tuition reimbursement. It is usually 3,000 for fulltime employees. Do a lot of research on the job market here. The economy is horrific here and there doesn't seem to be any end in site. Everyone I speak with wants out of here.
  7. I know how you are feeling. I don't know why, but I just have this feeling you will be getting called. The deadline for people to turn it paper work is March 16th. The letter states if it is not turned in they will give your seat in the program to the next one on the list. You just never know.
  8. My point was I think she is getting in!
  9. Depending on where you are located, I have the study guide I can sell you. Its $32 new I would sell for $15.
  10. Well, if they get to 44 this time you would be in
  11. I agree, I think this economy is so bad right now there may be people that just can't afford to quit their jobs for nursing school. As I said before Gem, I know of one person for sure that is declining. That would mean there are 4 ahead of you
  12. I will go to Baker because it is quicker. I will start the program in April and will graduate in December, 2010
  13. I would say that you have an excellent chance of getting in! Good Luck to You!!!
  14. If you ask me, it is too important to leave it to chance. The deadline is Feb.15. I would go there in person and turn in another application. I won't hurt. It would be terrible if you worked this hard and scored that high on your Hesi, to find out your application never made it.
  15. I didn't get in last year, but when I received my letter they tell you your ranking. My GPA was 4.0 and I only scored a 82 on the Hesi. I ranked #375 out of 760.
