  1. The test at HFCC is still called the Net (nursing entrance test) but it is no longer the same Net that they were giving. They are now giving the Hesi, talk to Cindy who is the head of the nursing department she will be able to give you more information. Currently they are just testing the math and reading portion, starting in Jan. they will be adding more to it. Hope this helps, they don't really give alot of information on their website.
  2. Thanks for replying. I was wondering if it was worth the extra time and money to take some of the classes that the other schools require to apply. I have everything except the net for HFCC but I would like to have some other options. Also, HFCC is telling me all of the math that I had at Baker doesn't transfer. MCC requires micro and I don't have that since HFCC doesn't require it. WCCC and SC4 have a different list. It's crazy, I guess I find it all a little overwhelming and I really don't want to wait around for one school. It seems like I have been doing this forever and I'm still nowhere. I know others are in the same boat as me but just would like to know what route others are taking to get things moving.
  3. I have some questions about applying to nursing programs at other schools that I hope some of you can answer. I am currently trying to get in at HFCC but I would like to apply at some others. I have thought about MCC, WCCC and St. Clair. I have looked at their websites regarding requirements and I notice that almost all of them have different pre-reqs. How is everyone meeting the requirements to apply to multiple schools? It seems impossible to meet the requirements to apply everywhere without having to take more pre-reqs. Even then, it seems like there is no guarantee. If anyone who is doing this can help I would love to know how to go about it. Thanks!
  4. Tonyal, thanks for the suggestion. I know I have to work on my time for the reading. I have the website link, if I remember right there are almost the same amount of questions as there is on the test. It's just a little nerve racking when I think about it, to read and answer in about a minute. Did you actually finish the reading portion or did you get far enough that your score was decent?
  5. Thanks for the advice. I do have the study guide that the book store sells, it's called The Net Study Guide, A Review for the Nurse Entrance Test. A white cover book with kind of purple lettering, three people on the front. I think it's the one your talking about. It's the one I was told to buy. I did study and I thought I was prepared, I just must have gone about it the wrong way. That, and I think nerves got the best of me. The timing on the test adds extra pressure, at least for me anyway. I know alot of people take the NET more than once, I just don't see any posts on this site from people that do. Everyone on here makes it sound like it's easy to ace. I will take your advice and really learn what to look for in the reading, I know I spent too much time analyzing for the right answer. As for the math, I know it's not hard and I can do much better on that too. It sounds like the test is different each time you take it. Is that true?
  6. I took the NET today at HFCC, needless to say I did not pass on my first attempt. I didn't get to finish the reading portion. I realize now that I spent too much time analyzing the paragraphs when I should have been more focussed on doing them quickly. I missed the math by one point also. Has anyone had to take this test more than once and if you did how did you prepare for it the next time. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Hi Panky 1, I was wondering if you think the study guide helped you prepare better for the test and how long ago you took it? I'm taking it at HFCC, is the test the same at whatever school you take it at? I would be willing to purchase the study guide from you just let me know how much you would sell it for. I'm in the 21 mile & Tilch area of Macomb Twp. Thx!
  8. Did the study guide help at all? There seems to be a ton of different resources and I wondered what's the best way to study. If the study guide helps more I would be interested in purchasing it from you. I live in Macomb Township if that's convenient.
  9. I have a hand out that they gave me at the school and it lists websites to use. One is http://hfcclab.info/Net and the other is http://hfcclab.info there is also a bunch of resources. Would you recommend practicing from just this or do you suggest getting a study guide?
  10. I am taking the NET at HFCC next month and I am curious as to what exactly is on the exam. Is it anything like the HESI? Also, what is the best way to prepare and study for it, is there a study guide or anything that I can purchase? Any insight would be appreciated.
