about mcc's HESI

U.S.A. Michigan

hi guys, just wondering if anybody can give some tips or advice for mcc's hesi entrance exam. also do you guys know how many questions there are in the whole test and/or each section? and do you think a 95 on the hesi and a great GPA is a shoe in already? any other info would bre great, thank you much!!:D

I can imagine a 95 is pretty damn good, along with a 4.0 or close to it GPA, but I don't wanna get your hopes up :x

The practice tests on the "Plato" website helped me a lot. They gave everyone a sheet of paper with the website on it when they signed up for the Hesi last year. I don't know how many questions there were. It took me over 3 hours because I took my time.

I didn't get any helpful hints when I signed up this year. The lady I dealt with was really rude to me and I don't know if it was because of my tattoos, or just because she's a ***** :p

I feel like there was 20 or so questions in each section and there is not the same amount in each one. It's few enough that getting more than one or two in each section can get you in trouble. I think you pretty much have to be in the 90's to get in. You shouldn't worry with a 95. Just to compare to John20's time for the test, I only took about 30 minutes because I take tests fast, and a few people beat me, so it totally depends on you.

A 95 Hesi score and a 4.0 would rank you pretty high in a group of 160. They are adding 40 more spots :)!

how many spots total are open at MCC now?

This year there is the original 120 then they are adding 30 more. That's 10 people per start for Oct, January, and March. I'm assuming they will add the full 40 next year. They didn't give those of us in the program details, (at least not me), just that we had to move our schedules so that there was only 8 people in a lab rather than 10 because of the extra people.

I was waiting to see some people on here excited that they were just admitted, but maybe they haven't told them yet?

Glad it wasn't just me then. Yes, I dislike some of the staff at MCC, but I've had two exceptional teachers that I absolutely loved, and they make up for it.

I took it a few weeks ago and it was 55 questions per section. You can take the 4 sections in any order you like. ITs pretty fresh in my memory so if you want to know anything specific I may be able to help.

Hi CorazonDeOro,

I want to take advantage of your knowledge on whats on the test.

My first question is the math. were there a lot of conversions and military time and so forth?

With the reading comprehension, how hard was that? Also someone told me that there were a lot of Medical terms on the vocabulary section, are there? I just want to get down everything that I need to study.

Thanks!
