So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.
I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.
How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?
When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?
Hi quick ? The books that you all referring to are they pertaining to all block 1 students for Maricopa county?Cause I had orientation on Monday for SCC (Block 1 start Jan 2016) & we were told that curriculum was chging & required books are different from past semesters/blocks
Hey slycherry did they say how exactly the curriculum was changing?

I am block 4 at SCC currently. From what I have been told, block one and two will no longer have a final practicum as part of the grade. Also, mental health is getting moved to block 2 with med/surg 1, whereas it used to be in block 4. I am not sure how they will space Med/Surg 1 and 2, Peds, OB, and critical care, but I can guess at two subjects each semester. I don't see why this means they need to change the books since it is the same program, just the subjects are being rearranged. Since it is a district wide program that allows transferring between the schools, I would venture to guess this means that all the schools will be changing the curriculum starting in Spring/16. I also noticed that the uniform embroidery is different.

I'm currently in block 3 @ Paradise Valley - we were told the same thing regarding changes to which subjects will be covered in various blocks. I would expect several textbook changes as well, since my group will be the first group to take the new NCLEX - which starts at the end of April 2016. Nobody knows what exactly will be different about the "new" NCLEX except we're being told that it will have more "select all that apply" questions than the old one.
For those considering buying books - be really careful - in my program at least, we had a number of "adaptive quizzing" "adaptive learning" and "online case studies" as requirements for our classes & buying the codes separately from the books can cost more than just buying a "book bundle" with everything included. (at PV - theoretically at least, you'ld buy one book bundle for block 1-2 and another at block 3-4) My block 3-4 book bundle was ~$600 with the print/ebook edition. (Evidently, it'll be worth $0 after I graduate, LOL).
Estrella sent out the book list with their welcome email. the bundle through the school is about $700 and when I priced it out elsewhere between renting (when possible) and buying used, it was going to be almost $1000. So at least for EMCC, the book bundle is better.
That's awesome. Still waiting for GCC to tell us if the book list is going to be the same.
How many books do you have to get?
