Maricopa Spring 2016 Block 1 students

So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.

I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.

How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?

When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?

GCC didn't have to many spots this go around, so that may be why you haven't gotten placed.

If you look at the application status page traditional and evenings only had 3 about spots, and weekends had 4 about spots.

Hey @Mrs. Bookroom did you get enrolled? I did, but man i didn't get my #1clinical spot. And I swear I enrolled 10mins after 10am! Crazyy.

I did! I enrolled Wednesday and didn't get my clinical day I wanted either. However, a few hours after I registered I checked out the open clinical days to see if the one I wanted opened up and it did!! So I called registration line and they were able to switch it for me. So I would keep an eye and you may be able to get the one to u want too :)

Uhhh I am so going to do that! I did try going back and checking but it didn't let me because I was enrolled already on NUR152. But it could be that it didn't show it because it was full. I will definitely keep an eye on it. When do you plan on getting your supply bag,books and scrubs?

Yeah I would search for NUR 152 and if it's open it will show up.

I have started to collect books already hoping that they aren't going to change to much because the last time I checked I couldn't see the books for spring yet. So I'm buying the ones that are on the fall list. I have done lots of digging into the books and buying them used and from different places they will be almost half of what they cost from the school. I have gotten my stethoscope and have been looking around for my clinical shoes but haven't settled on any. I'm not sure when I'll order the skills bag or when I'll pick up some scrubs. I was thinking about buying them from the student nursing associations if they have my size available.

What about you?

Does anyone know the books needed for Block 1? MCC?

Looking to pick up a few before we start and don't know if I should grab the ones that are listed for class schedule of block 1.

Suec- I have a question. Since you already registered you would know. The only page of the background check they want us to bring is the last page that says passed correct?

Yes. It's in your background profile. Just as the directions say on the email, just print the "passed" page ;)

That's what I thought. I didn't get an email unless it's the packet. The packet only says there are further instructions. I figured it was just the passed page but just wasted to confirm. Thanks

Did anyone notice the schedule changed? I'm referring to the optional classes. Has anyone gotten their books yet?

I haven't noticed. But I would assume they are similar to the schedule they sent out. However it did say it can change.

I didn't register for them so I couldn't tell ya for certain.

Some books required are:

Wilkinson, Fundamentals of nursing 3edition

Ignativicus, Medical Surgical Nursing 8th edition.
