Anyone else out there a dedicated gym head that is also a nurse. get at me.

Good luck to you guys. I'm prior service Army and just graduated from the UTHSC Houston BSN program. I'm not particularly a big heavy olympic type lifter but I stayed in shape going to gym about 4 times a week doing supersets to save time. I also use a rice cooker and just cook most of my meals at one time. I would say that lifting suffered when it came to crunch time but if you've got a good routine, I dont think it's too hard taking a few days break now and then. I cycle for cardio.

This is my first post.

RN Student here.

Between semesters I normally try to lift everyday of the week, no less than 5.

When schools in session, I take my books down to the gym and read on the exercycles.

Its coincidental that a girl in my nursing prog just asked me yesterday why I shrank in size since the beginning of the program.

If I get a light week, I'll work in a 30 minute routine of supersets, as others have mentioned, but only supplemental to my reading on the bike.

Keep up the efforts gentlemen!

30min cardio, 30min weights. I'm a NS that works out 2days/week. Not trying to bulk up, but to get more defined. I probably dont work out as often as I should, but i get lazy on days that I have clinical, which is 3days/week. I've been trying to avoid protein and creatine supplements that my friends abuse, but now I'm considering it given my slow results. Probably should work out more often. Should I change my routine? Appreciate any advice. TY in advance

I start school in August. Weight train 3X per week right now, and I hope school doesn't get in the way of that. Recently changed my diet around and have dropped 15lbs! I'm hoping to lose my "desk job physique" before school starts.

I would not try supplements till you are done w school. U wont be able to give 100% anyhow, why waste the money. Diet is more important than anything anyhow. That, too, was one of the hardest things to give up while I was in school. But its temporary and your muscles have muscle memory and will come back...i promise

been training since i was 14 till now and still being very consistent with all of it...

have a question, I know that guys who lift weights have to eat several times a day (had a part time wrestler co-worker who eats every 2 hours at work and drinks a gallon of water), so how do you guys do this while working on the floor? do you guys always keep food on your pocket and when no one is looking grabs a bite? :)

You dont have to eat every 2 hours. I'm a hard gainer and used to eat every 3-4 hours. I never managed to put on much muscle, and my lifts never improved much. Since I started eating paleo I now eat 3 times a day, some times I miss a meal (I'm almost never hungry anymore) but I'm lifting more than I ever have at the gym now. It could be partly that I'm training a bit different now, but I'm still not eating every 2 hours and doing fine.

Ok so I'm a girl but I had to get in on this!!! I am a retired Olympic Weightlifter and now train MMA.....I must work out...it's who I am. I start my BSN in Sept and can't find anything about female nursing students hitting the gym....or having time to hit the gym.....it freaks me out! I here a lot about gaining weight as a nursing student....NO! Anyways, glad to hear you guys are still training.....I won't be the only one :)

On top of you staying in shape, it will also be a great stress reliever from school! :D
