LVN Pay in your Area???

Published

I'm curious to see how much LVNs make across the country as I am returning to the field after a 6 - 7 year absence. When I left, LVNs in my area (Houston area) barely made pocket change. I've been pleasantly surprised to see the starting salary being offered in some job ads.

Also, post your specialty and how many years at your job.

Thanks!

That's encouraging. When I left the field, the most I ever made was $ 11.75/hr in LTC!

Im a new grad and the pay here in central FL seems to range from 14-16 for new grads. Agencies offer more like 16-21/hr. Im shopping around right now and Im not sure if I want to commit to a regular gig yet so Im looking into getting individual insurance and working agency so I can have freedom to work when I want, etc. Home health pays as much or more than a nursing home and you have one patient versus 25 or so! On the other hand, Id gain more experience getting into a subacute unit, etc. still working things out in my head....

Specializes in L&D.

$18.80 in a hospital setting in southern NJ. I work in a telemetry floor. And altho I wish I made more, I know working in a hospital has taught me SOOO much more than I can learn in a LTC setting.

I am in Connecticut and a new grad. Starting out is 20-24 in LTC pool makes 28+ Not too bad I think. Nancy :)

Hey Y'all

My wife's a baby-nurse (not L&D--just out of NrsgSchool). Started in LTC here in TampaBay area at $19/hr--but that's not with benefits. We're continuing to use my insurance etc.

I work in a small hospital in Wisconsin... I make 13 / hr. I also do pool work at a LTC where I make $16 / hr on weekdays and $19.75 on weekends. But, I think that's a rarity around my area.

I work in a hospital in Central Va, New grad LPN's start at $14.44/hr. New grad RN's start at around $22/hr.

Not sure how much experience makes

I am waiting to get into LPN school in the Tampabay area. What area are you from? How easy was it go get a job right out of school?

I live in northern California and I have worked at the same acute care hospital for 24 years as an LVN. I make $23.30/hr plus we get a night shift differential of $4.00/hr, which is the same differential the RN's make. So it is $27.30/hr. And next year will be my 25th year so I will receive an additonal 2% raise. I currently have a postion in CCU but I float out because I am the LVN. We have travelers who have contracts to only work in critical care.I don't have anything against any of the travelers, actually they are probably the nicest and hardest working nurses I've met. Most of them are from Alabama, MIssissippi,Florida. Good Luck!

Specializes in floor to ICU.

$18 per hour in Katy, Texas + $3/hr shift diff from 3p-7p. (I wk 7a-7p) I think the 7p-7a shift gets $4-5/hr shift diff. That's why I'm going back to school
