I'm curious to see how much LVNs make across the country as I am returning to the field after a 6 - 7 year absence. When I left, LVNs in my area (Houston area) barely made pocket change. I've been pleasantly surprised to see the starting salary being offered in some job ads.
Also, post your specialty and how many years at your job.
Thanks!

I am currently working in a surgeon's office as an assistant, because I am enrolled in LPN school right now. I will start clinicals in the summertime. I am currently making around 12.00 an hour. I know an LPN who has twenty-five years experience, and just took a job at a local hospital making 12.50 working in the operating room. If you are working in the north, louisiana area (shreveport, monroe) please let me know what the rate of pay is. Granted, money is not my only motive for entering this profession I just want to make sure I can earn a little more when I get out of school, because I have school loans to pay off. Thanks in advance for any information that anybody maybe able to provide.:wink2:
I recently responded to this question...also from Ct. LTC make about $26
a hour same job for 23 yrs, which has nothing to do with pay, our reliable union 2 yrs. ago at negotations brought everyone up to same pay scale!!!! New grads and new employees went from $18.00 and older employees went from $23.00 to $25.00!!! $7.00 raise for them $2.00 for us!! So much for experience and longevity!! Worse part retro for 2 months so you can imagine at an increase of $280.00 per week for new nurses $160.00 for long time employees!!!! Certainally not fair...Ielt degraded. Anyone need a job? Nurses dropping like flies due to work load getting heavy!!! Nothing like 23 yrs ago when it was just 30 geriatric residents now its evrything ivs diayalis etc...
