  1. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, speaking from experience here. I'm a southern gal, born and bred. I moved to California couple of years ago. Every time I answered the phone both at home and at work, the first thing I heard was, Where are you from? Nobody was rude to me, and most comment on how much they like my accent. If you dont mind people asking ,you will do fine. For me it just gets em talking. And I love to talk. LOL. Good luck with your career. Mine is almost over. I retire in 8 months. Yahooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
  2. Thanks for this article. I am an LVN, have been for 30+yrs. It really irritates me when I am looked down on. I worked ICU for 15 yrs. In Ca. they dont seem to recognize us like they did in Texas and Arkansas. I have been told more than once that I'm not even a nurse. Wonder what the patients I took care of in ICU would say about that. I had RN's that would only work with me because they knew I could handle my load and help with theirs. I think its time for me to quit nursing, since I'm not considered one anyway.
  3. Im an LVN in LTC in northern California, pay for me was 25/hr, with 28 yrs experience, think they range from 22 to 25 depending on experience. I was surprised, thought Cali would pay better. Im a transplant from the South.
  4. Hi, im in california, and am faced with a problem Ive never encountered before. Our new DON has her license on probation. She was effidently hired while license was on probation, and worked as an active RN for a couple of months before she was put in another position, we were told due to other reasons, Im uncomfortable working with this person as I feel it is wrong what our facility is doing. Any suggestions????
