Licensure requirements for CA for foreign grad

World Immigration

Published

I just graduated from a nursing school in the phils. I wasn't able to take the local board bec. my immigrant visa was about to expire.I was lucky that i was able to finish my course there. My question is do you really have to be a local board passer so you will be eligible to take the CA NCLEX here?I mean even as an immigrant? And for all those foreign grads how long did it take for your application for licensure to be processed?:uhoh3: just wondering....

When I passed my CGFNS last year they mailed me notifying to be able to have a VSC I must pass my english exam. After I had passed my english exam I applied for VSC April 2006 and I've got it May 2006. The expiration date is 5 years.

Ms.Suzzane is correct you must past NCLEX or english exam or CGFNS and english exam to have a visa screen certificate. But if you were born in an english country then you are exempted to take english proficiency examination. Here is the link on how to earn a VSC http://cgfns.org/files/pdf/req/vs-requirements.pdf the requirements are all there. VSC has a validation of 5 years.

hi everyone!

my friends and i are planning to apply to CA BRN and we were wondering if it's alright if we submit our application requirements in one delivery pouch(separate envelopes inside) in order to save cost on delivery... has anyone done this before? of course our school transcripts will be delivered separately....

also, what courier in your experience met ur expectations in terms of delivery service?

thanks!

Please, please do some research before going the route of CA for initial licensure if you did not train in the US. It will be about six months for you to get approval to even sit for the exam, then another two months to get a spot with Pearson-Vue to take the exam, and then another month until you get your results. You are looking at next September or so, if you do the math.

California is very easy to endorse to.................makes absolutely no sense at all as to what you want to do.

VSC is much faster in verification if you took the CGFNS exam, they already have information on you and only need the passing of the English exams. If the nurse has taken only the NCLEX exam, it is usually longer as they still need to do the verification.

it is ok to do it... as long as your documents are placed in a seperate enveloped before putting it in one plastic (package of the courrier)... we did it also, and some of my classmates did it also.

your school ducuments can also be mailed the same way......

thats ok as long as u dont have any erasures. mine was rejected because i had an erasure in the bday part..hehehe..were the same my fingers are all sweaty but theres nothing wrong about it.

please make sure you put card board inside to lessen the chance of it being folded in the delivery process... the harder the board the better...

ei suzanne, i have been reading this forum and i am quite confused... i have submitted my application for california last august and i have just received my eligibility last october 30, 2006... i'm just wondring with what you have said regarding ca not issuing hard licenses... because of ssn... so does it mean that if ever i'll pass the nclex of cali... would be quite nonsense because of ssn thing, i wouldn't be able to work? im quite confused with that... i do appreciate your reply... tnx :)

what it means is that you will not get a hard license until you give them a SSN which you won't get until in the US and showing proof that you are legally there. you will be able to work

now that's fast! I guess suzanne was wrong about the US states not wanting to realase att for nclex applicants of the june 06 passers. That's why I hesitated to apply a few months back. like Ca for example few months back the mods here say that it takes too long to apply but actually it didnt take that long for most people, the most I heard was only 3 months. I hope my application process will be fast and alright like you guys. ^_^
