I just graduated from a nursing school in the phils. I wasn't able to take the local board bec. my immigrant visa was about to expire.I was lucky that i was able to finish my course there. My question is do you really have to be a local board passer so you will be eligible to take the CA NCLEX here?I mean even as an immigrant? And for all those foreign grads how long did it take for your application for licensure to be processed? just wondering....

hello there!!! I also graduated nursing last April of 2006 and pass the board just this july 19. Well i have classm8's from school who didnt took the boards and flew directly to cali last march. I think they just completed their requirements and went and passed them directly, one of the requirements though is our diploma if in case you were a local board passer in your own country together with a written explanation on why you werent able to take the local board exam. Anyways, i also have a question, bec i just emailed cali bon and requesting to send me a nclex application packet together with confirmation card. do you think? they would send it to me or should i just call them via phone just to be sure? i am clueless with regards to this matter, iam also leaving for canada this september so i need to get my butt going to be able to finish all the paperworks here. So if ever i mailed my second envelope, how long will it take me to receive my eligibility? thanks!:penguin:

same here just passed this june 06', planning to take nclex but not sure which state yet though i'm hoping for ca, but it takes a long process...they say vermont has reciprocity with ca
try also new mexico, i've heard its almost the same as vermont. the requirements are easy and they will give you the eligibility in just 3 months...

hello colleagues..if ur planning to take the nclex, my advise is that never apply the cali NCLEX. besides the long processing time, the exam is really tough. before, i was planning to take it, but some of the nurses i've met told me to apply vermont's, which i did. good thing i listened, coz it took me only about 2 months to receive my eligibility (may be lesser if they didn't ask for another requirements from my college). saves a lot of time...and one more thing, i was able to know that i passed after 2 days because vermont does have quick result service while cali doesn't (u need to wait a month for your result..what an agony!). u might as well try new mexico, ohio, minnesota, etc. and just apply for reciprocity/endorsement in california board of nursing. i had mine reciprocated in just a few months. good luck!

hi baby_sylyn . yes they will send you the application packet with the confirmation card, there's really no need to call. but if you are leaving this september dont apply at CA BON. it will take you 4-6 mos for the eligibility.
guys! congratulations for passing the boards!

please give me info, what is this eligibility? and what's being processed so quickly? so a new grad, if applying to vt (vermont) bon will be processed quicker than any other state? do you have to work there to be able to be endorsed to cali or any other state? what about relatives, like kids and hubby? thanks in advance.
