Licensure requirements for CA for foreign grad

World Immigration

Published

I just graduated from a nursing school in the phils. I wasn't able to take the local board bec. my immigrant visa was about to expire.I was lucky that i was able to finish my course there. My question is do you really have to be a local board passer so you will be eligible to take the CA NCLEX here?I mean even as an immigrant? And for all those foreign grads how long did it take for your application for licensure to be processed?:uhoh3: just wondering....

is it true state board in Cali are more difficult compared to other state....

this is not true... if this is true, they will not easily accept my endorsement. I am originally licensed in Vermont and i just endorsed it to California. THey rightaway accepted it. So please never be bothered by those rumors:angryfire :angryfire

Please take the time to do some reading.

NCLEX-RN is a national exam, meaning that it is not state specific. No matter where you write the exam, or for which state that you write it for, you are going to have the same questions. It is a computerized exam, and the computer gives you questions baed on how you answered the previous questions.

So whether the exam is for CA, NY, Vermont, of even New Hampshire, it is the same for you. And whether you write it in Guam, Hong Kong, London, it is still the same for you.

It is 100% out of the rumor mill that it is easier in one location over another, and one state is easier than another.

And it is just that, just another rumor.

hi tukmol 06 and for everyone who wants to know more about CALI BON.

you dont need to submit an explanation letter. its already ok for them if u submit a copy of ur diploma. It stated in the form to submit either a copy of diploma or a copy of ur license. its up to u what copy will u send. just wait for at least 2 mos to get ur eligibilty but it depends on ur application or finger printing if there is a correction ur application will be delayed. like what happened in my application i submitted it mid of april this year and finger print card was rejected. so i submitted another card this june and got my eligibility august 26 and my att august 27. if u already have an eligibility and want to get ur ATT faster just register here www.pearsonvue.com u will need a credit card after u register for ur ATT just provide ur email add to them and presto after u have paid u will get ur ATT in no more than 10 seconds. will take my nclex this january 3. if u choose HK for ur exam, mind u after u have ur att get the phone and call nclex because Hk was always full for schedules maybe now the available slot is for march. before u proceed have ur credit card on hand to pay for $150 (tax).just provide ur credit card number and the 3 digit numbers at the back of it and ur candidate number. u will find ur candidate number in ur att. here is the number 0061294785400. hope it helps..by the way im 2004 board passer. nclex is my last exam to take. i completed my cgfns and ielts already got my visa screen march 2006..Good luck to all of us nurses.:nurse:

God Bless and take care!!

1. thanks a lot for the infos! by the way, if ever there's any problem with my application requirements, will the cali bon will give me notifications via email/snail mail or should i contact them via phone call to ask if there's any?

2. should i have to pass first the nclex and ielts before i apply for visa screening?

thanks again!

if one already has the license, so need for it to be verified right since it just says a photocopy of your license and your diploma?

tnx

-yap! they will give you notifications via mail if there is some error or corrections on ur application.

-u need to pass cgfns and ielts or nclex and ielts to be able to apply for visa screen..if u only passed cg or nclex w/o ielts they will not give u a visa screen.

to nurse_plush u dont need to verify ur license in PRC like cgfns. u can attach a photocopy of ur diploma or license that allows you to practice nursing in the country where u were educated. but if u are an american citizen its ok if u only submit a photocopy of ur diploma if u dont have a license. :)

okie tnx, btw Im scared that my fingerprint card won't be accepted since I think the prints isnt that very nice due to my fingers being so sweaty the ink won't stick thoroughly to the card. what was the problem with you card btw?

thats ok as long as u dont have any erasures. mine was rejected because i had an erasure in the bday part..hehehe..were the same my fingers are all sweaty but theres nothing wrong about it.

How can they screen you if you have not taken the exams yet? The VSC application is only good for one year, I highly recommend that you wait until you at least take and pass the NCLEX exam.

Sorry, but that is wrong information. If the fingerprints cannot be read distinctly as far as DOJ is concerned, they will not be accepted. Erasures wil not be accepted either.

That is why I always recommend that you send two sets, so if ine gets rejected, you have another there that they can possibly use.

California will verifiy your license. But you also need to include a copy of it, just as the applicaiton states. That is why it is so long to get approval from CA to sit for the exam, they do their own evaluation and investigating.

Sorry, but wrong information. CA BRN does not always notify you if there are porblems with your application, you need to follow up with them, it is considered your responsibility, not theirs.

And again, more wrong information. You do not need to have passed the CGFNS exam or the NCLEX exam to apply for the VSC. You should have a completed set of transcripts at least. The issue is that the VSC is not only good for one year, not the two years as before, so it is best to wait, but you do not have to wait.................
