is 25-30 too late to want to pursue a nursing degree?

I'm curious. I'm 22 but I'm struggling in anatomy and really don't know what else to do. I feel like maybe if I work a little bit and save up my money I can come back at another time and go back to school. I thought about becoming a cna?

are you kidding? I hope not! I just turned 30 and am applying as we speak!

also, becoming a CNA is good... will offer excellent experience and make you a great nurse., however it will make you want to become a nurse sooner... at least that is what becoming a CNA did for me!

I started seriously considering nursing school right when I turned 25... And am now 9 weeks from graduating and I just turned 30. And when I started actual nursing school (3 years ago), the average age in my class was about 31. So no, definitely you're not too late to start nursing school!

I'm 41 and on my third degree, so I would venture to say that you're WAY NOT TOO OLD! You're just right!

I'm turning 34 in a few weeks and will be starting an Accelerated BSN program this June. To be honest, I don't think I would've had the determination or drive as I do now to complete nursing school when I obtained my first degree. I had no idea what I wanted in life and was quite carefree at that time. I valued traveling and going out with friends, while studying was not exactly my priority during my late teens and early 20's. I do believe it's never too late for school as long as you are serious about it and determined to succeed.

so you didnt encounter ageism in the workplace?

My mom started nursing school when she was in her early 40s. Having her example makes me less conscious of the fact I'll be starting at 28. The average age of most of the programs I've looked at is about 30. Many entering nursing school are going for a second career so the average age is a little older, though there certainly are students who figure out they want to go into nursing right out the gate and get in at 18.

Just an update, i was in the last semester of my LPN to RN program when I first commented so I was 43 or close to 44.

I am now close to the end of my RN to BSN program.

I'll be 47 years and 1 month old at graduation :)

I hate when people ask questions like this, making it seem like life is over after age 25.

I changed my career to nursing at age 40 and life couldn't be better for me.

I used to think 30 was ancient lol. So i can kinda see why people ask these questions.

I was 29 when I decided to pursue a career in nursing. 30 when I started prereqs.

33 when I started Lvn school.

Now 35 and was accepted to RN school.

I just keep saying I'll be done by 40.

No you're not too old. I worked with nurses both older and younger than me. It's a diverse field.
