So yesterday I'm in class and one of my classmates was doing a presentation on cirrhosis of the liver. The lady I was sitting next to decided she was hungry and pulls out a bag of almonds and starts eating them in the middle of the presentation. The room was silent except for the presenter talking so you could clearly hear her eating them. She would crinkle the bag, crunch them very loudly, smack her mouth, then when she was done, she starting obnoxiously sucking nuts out of her teeth!
I couldn't concentrate at all thanks to her eating like a goat the whole time.
I know it's a silly thing to vent about, but for person who is going to be a nurse, I don't think thats very professional behavior!
Okay...*out of my system*

Future nurse, Nurse or not, that is just plain rude. I'm noticing more and more a lack of manners and common sense in people. I often wonder why my dog can eat a meaty bone with less noise and commotion than some people can eat a pb&j sandwich
LOL! I agree! Manners are few and far between now a days. People making noises while they eat is my biggest pet peeve. Smacking, slurping, crunching, smacking gum....I can't stand it!
I had a class full of fellow students who thought (or it seems as such) that the proper way to eat was loud, obnoxious and with as little manners as possible. Oh and for the record, they also believed that following all that rude eating SHOULD BE and WAS followed by loud exaggerated burping (think 7 yr old boys)and an occasional "toot" from the south side!! I kid you not! I was mortified!
That is disgusting! UGH! Sorry you had to go through that. I can understand a bottle of water or something, but people act like they are going to starve to death if they don't eat in class! It's like, you can't wait 30 minutes until you get in your car to eat that? I guess I was just raised differently but I was always taught that when you eat, people shouldn't be able to hear you

I don't mind people eating in class as long as it done respectfully and quietly. I, myself, wouldn't starve to death if I didn't eat in class on occasion, but my blood sugar has a tendency to drop really low..really quickly. I have had times that I've eaten at say 7am but by 10 or so I'd get the tell-tale s/s of hypoglycemia. so it was either eat in class (quietly and with respect) or or wait until break and risk hit the floor passing out waiting for it LOL.

eating like a goat the whole time.
i love that phrase!!
your episode sounds almost as bad as when i was taking an a&p final exam. an idjit sitting behind me thought it was the perfect time to suck & krunch on mint candy.
i was a good boy, however. i didn't even turn around & glare at the twit.
some people are just plain rude.

Perfect reason for a no food policy in the classroom, how rude.

LMAO @ eating like a goat.
I just have to say that my biggest pet peeve in life is people that eat without manners. To me, there is nothing more annoying than that person that's chewing gum with all that gross mouth noise, or eating and talking (especially when little chunks of food are flying out of their mouth *GAG*). I don't really mind people eating in class as long as they eat like a human being and not a camel. I have a problem where my blood sugar starts bottoming out and I need to consume something, so I usually bring a lunch box with some quiet snacks (like grapes or a banana or something) and some juice. I once sat in a 3 hour lecture with some dope sitting next to me chewing gum loudly the whole time. I stared at her with a disgusted look on my face the ENTIRE time. Missed the whole lecture because I couldn't concentrate and just wanted to flip her binder up in her face. LOL, I'm not usually a violent person.

I cannot stand any kind of mouth noise. Gum chewing, gulping drinks, crunching anything, it all drives me insane! If you are going to eat in class, eat something that is quiet!
