June 2008 NCLEX support group

Published

This thread is for any upcoming graduates taking NCLEX in June of 2008.

To start off with I would love to hear if anyone is taking Kaplan, or Drexel or other prep courses and why did you choose the one you did? I am looking into them and I am just not sure which one is best and why.

Thanks!

Hey all, I took the test in Indiana Thursday a.m. Walked out of there SURE i failed after 75 questions and the screen went blue. Ya know, no matter how much you beg, that thing just WONT turn back on. I raised my hand to inform the proctor i had finished and was half tempted to inform her of the "power outage" that SURELY was occuring LOL...So Friday came and went with 2 others that had taken it with me recieivng license numbers on the BON website...more confirmation i had in fact failed in 75 questions....I bawled in hysterics at work all day yesterday. not sure if it was nerves or the fact that i am 7 months pregnant :)

Anywho, woke up this morning at the 48 hour mark and decided to pay the 8 dollars for quick results on Pearson Vue to have some DOCUMENTATION that i failed so my husband and co-workers believed me.....

Here i go, entering c/c info, and then WHAT!?!?! Pass?? It says PASS????! I was flipping out. There must be an error. There is no "Fail" on this paper ANYWHERE (i searched it over 18 times it seems)....I've checked 3 more times today and still, no fail...A miracle must have been performed in Indy on Thursday. I felt HORRIBLE about that exam.

So moral of my post is, you WILL walk out feeling like you know nothing and like that test is EVIL....Everyone at worked tried to convince me passers and those non-successful all feel like the test defeated them. I vowed i didnt beleive it. that there was NO way you could walk from a test in such shambles and still have passed.. Keep faith, it IS possible!!!!! Good Luck to EVERYONE!!! Cant wait to hear more success stories!!:yeah:

Thanks for your encouragement travel soon! I have heard from a lot of people that anxiety and nerves can be the kiss of death on the NCLEX...so by knowing this, I know that I have to try and calm myself down! I have even started taking holy basil- an herbal supplement that lowers cortisol levels, and so far I can tell somewhat of a difference! There are moments where I can tell it's not working and then I try to calm myself down by breathing. I also posted sticky notes all over my house that say "I WILL pass the NCLEX" haha because at this point it's starting to become a mind game with me! I am planning on getting a massage the day before my test because I have heard from tons of people to not do ANYTHING the day before! I don't know how I will allow myself to do this, but I am sure going to try!

HAHAHA! This is great...I am glad I am not the only one with notes around the house that say: "On June 10th, 2008; you passed the NCLEX with 75 questions." In the bathroom, in the hall, even on my bedroom mirror I have a note with my name followed by "RN." It's the little things that make a big difference in this process. I take this thing on Tuesday. I have done about 3200 questions over the past two weeks, finishing up tonight with Pediatrics. Tomorrow I am going to review some basic stuff-little things that have fallen under the radar, such as, delegation, assessment basics, and pharmacology. I have trouble with delegation since I am an LPN who worked at a hospital with very little difference between the scope of practice between an RN and LPN. However, Monday is going to be a great day. I am going to work out, seeing my energy therapist, reading some positive manefestations, play with my little bro and sis, and then go to bed early. D-Day will begin at 0800. Best of luck to everyone. We are all gonna do this! :o):yeah::loveya:

Good luck!!! :yeah:You can do this....I too have little notes all over the place. Atleast I know I am not alone.I am an LPN to RN transitioning and I have had to really focus on the delegation and assignment for the same reasons you listed. :D

Travel soon- I too just finished the Kaplan course. I didn't feel too great, especially after I did worse on the readiness test than on the diagnostic test. Took the Qtrainer 1, got in the 50's (I don't remember exactly). I had been working on notecards, and I knew I needed to finish them, so I did that, read through them; went and took Qtrainer 2 and improved! Got a 65%. Now, granted I have not gotten to the harder Qtrainers, but I am going to keep going over my notecards I have made then take the Qtrainers and do the Qbank questions also. I realize you are pressed for time since you only have 2 weeks, but maybe just the content you know you need refreshing in, make some notecards. I have about 4 more weeks til I take mine-July 7th. Good Luck!
