This thread is for any upcoming graduates taking NCLEX in June of 2008.
To start off with I would love to hear if anyone is taking Kaplan, or Drexel or other prep courses and why did you choose the one you did? I am looking into them and I am just not sure which one is best and why.
Thanks!
I graduate in May as well and the NCLEX has been heavy on my mind lately.
I don't really have the money to pay for a prep course so I'm just going to buy the NCLEX books and do it that way....I think I should do fine. I'm scared of failing but I'm also confident in myself. I think I will use Suzannes plan. Well now that I think of it my job gives us some kind of online Kaplan review class so I will do that.
I am assuming we will test in June but I haven't heard anything for sure. My application is in to the state board and I paid my Pearson Vue NCLEX fee so I'm just waiting for my ATT. They are sending in our final transcripts the middle of May (we grad May 9th).
We are almost done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pinning is May 7th and I was told it usually takes a few weeks to get the ATT. But there was also a rumor from the last class and they were saying it could be as soon as one week that the ATT will arrive. I am planning on doing the Kaplan review course simply because I needed a guarantee! lol I sound so confident, dont I? LOL I just wanna be a nurse already!
hi! count me in this group! :wink2:i'm part of may group coz i thought i'm gonna test this month, but my eligibility just arrived and i feel like i have to review more. i'm planning to take the exam end of june...i'm doing suzanne's plan...a lot from april group passed using her program, hope to pass it too the 1st time! goodluck to us:up:
Hi all! I just had my pinning on Thursday night!! I can't believe it! And our graduation is on Tuesday! I had already planned to do Kaplan, but the job I accepted offers it as part of orientation. Its at Indiana University Hospital on the Organ Transplant Unit! I am SO excited! I have not delved (sp?) deep into studing yet--man, I needed a break!--but Monday I am going to get started here. I already have the Kaplan course book since I was signed up, and I have Saunders because it was required for school-the CD ROM part. I have not really investigated the book so I am not sure about it yet. I do want to by the NCLEX-RN Question and Answers Made Incredibly Easy! I had looked it over, it has lots of questions with a side by side format, so you don't have to flip back for the answers just cover them up. I am also going to make some flashcards of my own with lab values, signs and symptoms of fluid and electrolyte imbalances, effects of fluid overload and dehydration, different types of hepatitis diseases... etc. One of our teachers gave us some good study tips: Schedule on your calender the number of hours and times you are going to study each day (I am aiming for about 3 hours a day with ten minute breaks every hour); on your practice tests make sure you are scoring consistently at least an 80% every time you sit down to take one (I want to be scoring closer to an 85-90%); Don't take the test before you are ready. I also did have the ATI included in my program... mine said I had a 96% chance, but I am not paying too much attention to that--one, because I hate ATI... and two, on the regular ones we take I always score in the 60-70's%. Anyway, I am hoping to take my test sometime in June... Good Luck everyone!!
I will be retaking my boards this coming June... Congrats to all new grads, and especially good luck to all of us "retesting" in June! We can do this!!!
If there is another June support group out there and this is just for new grads, I apologize, BUT WE (I)... can use all the good well wishing and luck and PRAYERS we can get.
GOOOOOOOOOOD LUUUUUCK...

Hey yall. I'm also graduating in May and anticipate taking my boards sometime in June. I have been dabbling with studying here in there, but have not committed myself to anyserious study routine. I have the Saunders Comprehensive review 4th edition which seems alright, the director of our nursing program recommended the NCSBN (which is who writes the NCLEX) NCLEX-RN study program which is all online, so like a frantic idiot just trying to get a clue I purchased the 5wk program which was $99 and feel like a total idiot. I took the pretest and made a 60%!!! Now i'm not trying to be cocky or anything, but from someone who has never made less than a B the whole 2 years of nursing school to make such a low score on an "NCLEX style" quiz is SCARRY!!! If that is anything like what the NCLEX is going to be I am in serious trouble. So if anyone else has used this program i'd love to know, because I was really not impressed with the question style or even the study material. Thanks for listening to my venting.
