June 2008 NCLEX support group

Published

This thread is for any upcoming graduates taking NCLEX in June of 2008.

To start off with I would love to hear if anyone is taking Kaplan, or Drexel or other prep courses and why did you choose the one you did? I am looking into them and I am just not sure which one is best and why.

Thanks!

Wow, someone quoted/read that exact verse at my church just last night. I don't remember ever hearing it before, so it's weird to have heard it twice in less than 24 hours...

Thanks!:up::redbeathe

That's the spirit of the Lord trying to get through 2 u! Sometimes we need to hear things more than once...lol...:)

hi guys, i was originally on the may support group. but as of last week, i have to remediate again and will be taking the test in june(i hope). i have done numerous books, and programs, am doing the ncsbn course now. thanks for letting me join! goodluck to all of you testing this month. will send up some prayers for you!

I took the NCLEX today & felt throughout the entire exam that I was failing! I just can't explain it! I am a very good student coming out of a great program & never had problems with testing. I was stopped at 75 questions - which I know most people are thrilled about- but, in my case, I feel I didn't have chance to recoop from all the horrible low level questions I was getting wrong. I know my material- but, surprisingly, some content ended up stumping me. I felt i was guessing (incorrectly) on every question - even the basic S&S's of... That's the part that kills me - I don't feel any of the material was especially out there or unheard of. It was all basic stuff. I had a LOT of med questions, a LOT of SATA, a few alternate types, a couple med calcuations, some priority & infection control. No delegation or triage questions. I felt that I was staying at low level questions a lot of the time. I know I definitely missed the last question - a med teaching question. I just feel so shocked that I didn't feel prepared enough. I'll just be horrified to have to tell my family & my new manager that I didn't pass! I'm riding on luck now & feeling pretty depressed and angry. Sorry to vent~ but none of my other friends have taken it yet, and they don't want to get freaked out. :crying2:

Jenn, most people don't walk out of this test feeling like they passed. Hopefully you can get your results quickly and in the meantime try and relax and stay positive. Find something to take your mind off of it. :D

Jenn,

Almost everyone that I have talked to that has already taken the exam describe the exact same feelings that you are. One of my friends cried for 2 days, she was sure that she had failed. She passed. I think it is a horrible feeling knowing that your life and dreams are on hold for those horrendous 48hrs waiting for the results. Keep positive, remember that after you get your results and it says PASSED, you will be able to sit back and laugh. I take the test in 10 days and 9 hrs..lol..Im nervous too. Take a deep breathe, stretch, and go have some fun. You earned it. :D

baceball6 and JENNinAUSTIN...I am praying for passing for you! Keep us posted :D

hi everyone!

Hey everyone,

Little rant:

I've been studying for a few hours a day(some days off in between) what I'm doing is Kaplan trainers/qbank(writing down all incorrect answers in my book which is time consuming) and Saunder's for content at the moment. I am on acid base imbalances and am very weak on this for some reason, I scored a 60%!! I was scoring 80% in Saunder's till this section....uggg....so I'm going to read the chapter in my med surge book. It's the partially compensated versus compensated that gets me. I understand that if the ph is in the normal range it's compensated but the Hco3 being normal means UNcompensated and the Hco3 being abnormal is partially compensated is what gets me(I get it somewhat buttttt)...ugg so I'm going to read the whole chapter from my med surge book:banghead: ....As an example, I got one question wrong because the ph was 7.45 and I thought that compensation wasn't occuring when the book said it was within normal limits at the higher end...which I guess I can see but if I took the real nclex test I would have gotten it wrong. Oh well, about to pull out the big ol' med surge book and read this one.:jester: Happy studying to all!:)
