JULY NCLEX-ers!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey y'all! Just wanted to see who else is scheduled for NCLEX in July so we can maybe keep each other accountable to study goals, share study woes, good prep books, etc.

My date is July 11th, can't wait!!

I'm doing the NCSBN, Kaplan book, LaCharity, Lippincott and Mosby books, and reviewing ATI books from my school. From what I've read, I think I should get Saunders too... seems like the questions are good.

:mad::mad:I'm so mad right now. It turns out that my school didn't complete the TRANSCRIPT REQUEST FORM. Because I took the boards before graduating, my school is hesitant about filling out the form. This is whats holding up my official results. This is why my name hasn't appeared on the California BON. I'm sooooo mad. I would have had my official results by now.

After reading numerous blogs I finally decided to make an account:) I'm taking mine a week from now and I am terrified. My best friend in nursing school already passed. We performed the same way during nursing school, and almost got the same scores in Kaplan. I've been doing nothing but study since we graduated and I feel tired!!!! I'm sticking with Kaplan and will study till I drop. Got a 70% on qt 7 so hopefully that's a good sign! Good luck guys!!!:smokin:

70 is great! You'll be fine... I was so worried that I'd be the first person from my school to fail after being top of most of my classes, but it was fine! You'll for sure have things you aren't familiar with on your test, just because that's the way it goes. The more practice questions you can do, the better, and then it's just up to some educated guesses on the questions you're stumped on.

I took the NCLEX RN this morning, 75 ? and good pop up!! I really can't believe it. I walked out of there feeling like I didn't know anything.

Good Luck to you all!

Congrats!!! It's such a weird feeling after huh? I think I focused on all the questions I didn't know and didn't really pay much attention to the ones I answered correctly because I felt the same way. =)

Taking mine on the 28th! So nervous. I am focusing on Saunders. In school we did ATI not sure if I will re-visit that or not. I plan on making sticky notes with lab values and posting them all over the house. Mostly going to do questions and more questions. Good luck to every one taking it in July!

I thought that the test was very similar to ATI and the kinds of questions we had on ATI, only way more prioritization and "which pt would you see first" questions.

yeah and i only had kaplan review book, i didn't do qtrainers or anything additional. i would say to review alot of "hot topic" stuff e.g. reproductive issues (breast/prostate ca, cialis/viagra etc). i didnt give those nearly enough attention during my review time. also, the basics of inf control e.g. which disease might require which type of precautions, modes of transmission of common illnesses etc. & with lytes, it's not so much memorizing lab val's as it is recognizing the s/s of hypo vs. hyper (alot of my SATA's seemed to deal with that).

just keep in mind that the nclex is made to test on what's most current/relevant to nursing at that time.. for example right now we are dealing with baby boomers (think colon cancer screening, menopause, erectile dysfxn) & the threat of disaster/bioterrorism (think priority, ABC, antidotes). i didn't get any but i'm sure obesity/BMI, diabetes etc. could definitely make an appearance.

mentally i did NOT study the day of, i made plans to grab coffee with a lifelong best friend to calm myself down. the night before i only reviewed kaplan strategy. during, i didn't focus on keeping a tally of how many of each type of question i got. and if i was unsure on a question or felt hopeless i put it out of my mind, looked at what # I was on & said "OK. i have 43 questions to turn this around if need be."

you can do it! keep us posted :)

Haha you must've had some of the same questions I did. I got a lot of stuff that you'd probably see in a clinic, not so much major diseases like I had in clinical (renal failure, CHF, DM, etc). Possibly b/c I answered those questions right. This is great advice, I completely agree. :yeah:

I'm in the exact same boat. I didn't take NCLEX before graduating, but my school is taking FOREVER to send transcripts. Have you spoken to everyone that you need to to ensure they send your stuff? Your nursing dept, the people in the academic dept who review transcripts, Records dept? Get on that! You deserve your license, you worked hard for it!!

jelly221,

Thank you. I wasn't on the honor roll, but I wasn't at the bottom of our class either. Sometimes when I see my scores at Kaplan, it gives me the confidence that I can pull this off. 10 minutes later I'm doubting myself again. My BFF said I'll never feel like I'm 100% ready. I'll just give it my all and pray. Hard.

So I pushed back my exam guys. I was given the Hurst review and I've heard so many great reviews about it and I decided to take some more time to watch the videos. So I pushed my exam back a few days so I can watch all the Hurst videos and complete my Kaplan QT 7 and the rest of the Qbank. I'm still taking it in July. I really didn't want to push the exam back but I figured more attention to Hurst could only help. Hope I didn't make a mistake :smackingf

Hmmm so I finished taking the test and the computer shut off at 217 questions. But I am trying to do the PVT and it says an account doesn't exist under my name anymore. WTH????:confused:

IDK what to think. That was hard and I truly have no idea if I passed or not.

I just came up with a great study plan for the next two weeks including the Hurst videos and the rest of the Kaplan Qbank and QTrainer 7. I'm feeling confident! I'm going to print out several copies and post them around so I stick to this schedule. I'm also going to make a lab value and infection control print out!

Also, good luck Dizzy Lizzy!!

:eek::eek:Okay...now I'm worried. I live in California too, and I took my test on July 7th and from what I thought...its suppose to take two business days before your name posted on the BON. I keep getting the good pop up as well, and my name hasn't posted. Then again, I didn't expect to see my name yet. However, I would expect to see it on Monday or Tuesday. The board doesn't up date their records on the weekends, so are you sure your friend's name posted on Saturday? Let me know if you name comes up because right now...I'm a little worried that your friend's name posted on Saturday and mine's didn't being that I took the test on the 7th and got the "good pop up" too.

HI, I live in California too, and took my boards on TUESDAY JULY 12TH...I got the GOOD POP UP, so how long will it take for my name to post on BON? since your last post have any good news for you or your friend?
