JULY NCLEX-ers!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey y'all! Just wanted to see who else is scheduled for NCLEX in July so we can maybe keep each other accountable to study goals, share study woes, good prep books, etc.

My date is July 11th, can't wait!!

I'm doing the NCSBN, Kaplan book, LaCharity, Lippincott and Mosby books, and reviewing ATI books from my school. From what I've read, I think I should get Saunders too... seems like the questions are good.

hmm thought i posted but guess not - well i took mine july 5 and passed! did pearson vue, oh i dunno about A HUNDRED TIMES over the course of 24 hours "just to be sure" haha. turned off at 75 and was positive i fail, i cried and cried. finaly worked up the courage to PVT and the rest is history :) next day a fellow nsg student from my school texted me that my name was on BON site!

probably had atleast ten SATA, quite a few infection control & randomly a few womens' health (eg. breast ca, menopause) which was of course was one of the only topics i didn't really study. i agree with everyone else that says it's really like nothing you've taken before, a bunch of random info that i was unsure on, but when i got home & looked it up i "guessed" right. it's alot less guessing though, and alot more of "i have NO clue but i'll just use kaplan strategies to narrow it down" haha.

CONGRATS to everyone else who passed and GOOD LUCK to the rest of the july people..see you all on the other side!!

The website says they don't update on weekends, but for some reason last week the updates for the previous day weren't appearing until the next morning - so Friday's, July 8th's update, didn't appear until Saturday morning. Maybe it had something to do with the holiday? Who knows.. I checked this morning and it said it was updated for the 10th, but my name still isn't there  Hopefully tomorrow!! I really hope the PVT wasn't lying to me!! Everyone here in CA seems to be having their names posted at random times..

Okay...You took you test on the 5th of July...are you sure that your file is complete ie. TRANSCRIPTS. Maybe your school didn't send them. I check the board this morning and my name hasn't appeared yet. As for myself, I'm going to call the board tomorrow to make sure that my file is complete...then again, I'm pretty sure that its complete because I couldn't have taken the test without it. Regardless, I'm going to check anyway. Hopefully your name will appear tomorrow. Keep me posted please.:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

With 2 weeks out, just practice questions consistently..........go hard, block everything else and answer questions and read rationales..........you know you got this stuff, you have used one of my favorite learning tool, which is the Hurst Review, so I know you have the fundamentals down. Remember what Marlene have said, and you will be successful. Breath and calm down..........

Be your own Motivator.........give yourself pep talks and ALWAYS bet on yourself to win..........

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I'm definitely going to keep my date. I'm feeling like we can all do this!!!:yeah:

I took the NCLEX RN this morning, 75 ? and good pop up!! I really can't believe it. I walked out of there feeling like I didn't know anything.

Good Luck to you all!

Congrats!!!!! I'm relieved that the Kaplan strategies worked for you. :balloons: Mine is in less than two weeks. I'm still doing qtrainers and qbank. I completed qtrainer 6 & got a 67 so that helped me feel a little better. Soooo happy for you!!!!!!!! Any words of advice that you can spare?

Hello everyone... I originally planned on taking the NCLEX on July 14th, but I rescheduled to the 29th so I could study harder. I hope everyone good luck!!!

Hi everyone!!!! I'm taking mine the 13th....also my birthday lol. Long story...... I've been doing ATI and Kaplan Review but this week I can't sleep, I got a migraine today and was throwing up. :crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2: I'm sooooo nervous! GL everyone!

Taking mine on the 28th! So nervous. I am focusing on Saunders. In school we did ATI not sure if I will re-visit that or not. I plan on making sticky notes with lab values and posting them all over the house. Mostly going to do questions and more questions. Good luck to every one taking it in July!

Relax....I recently took my test as well on my Bday...I figured what better gift I can give myself then to be a RN. You have to have faith and know that you have all of the information and tools needed. Go in with confidence and pray for serenity and calmness. You will do just fine I did kaplan as well and I felt the same way. I passed after 75 ques and waked out feeling I ws a RN. I had some very encouagring people on my side and they gave me strenght. I will say a special prayer for you, but you have to believe and know that this is for you. :nurse:

I had sticky notes on my bathroom mirror, lab values, drugs with antidotes, and a few critical things. They stayed there until they were fully memorized (for long-term memory!)

good luck guys!:heartbeat:D

yeah and i only had kaplan review book, i didn't do qtrainers or anything additional. i would say to review alot of "hot topic" stuff e.g. reproductive issues (breast/prostate ca, cialis/viagra etc). i didnt give those nearly enough attention during my review time. also, the basics of inf control e.g. which disease might require which type of precautions, modes of transmission of common illnesses etc. & with lytes, it's not so much memorizing lab val's as it is recognizing the s/s of hypo vs. hyper (alot of my SATA's seemed to deal with that).

just keep in mind that the nclex is made to test on what's most current/relevant to nursing at that time.. for example right now we are dealing with baby boomers (think colon cancer screening, menopause, erectile dysfxn) & the threat of disaster/bioterrorism (think priority, ABC, antidotes). i didn't get any but i'm sure obesity/BMI, diabetes etc. could definitely make an appearance.

mentally i did NOT study the day of, i made plans to grab coffee with a lifelong best friend to calm myself down. the night before i only reviewed kaplan strategy. during, i didn't focus on keeping a tally of how many of each type of question i got. and if i was unsure on a question or felt hopeless i put it out of my mind, looked at what # I was on & said "OK. i have 43 questions to turn this around if need be."

you can do it! keep us posted :)
