Johnson & Johnson commercials

Published

Does anyone else hate them as much as I do?

That stupid jingle: "You're a nurse. You make a difference."

I mean, could it be more corny and condescending?

Also, why is Johnson & Johnson running a nursing ad anyway? Anyone know?

Gosh,

Stop complaining! You chose this career. Nobody made you do it. If you don't like it, quit. J&J is just trying to encourage us. I am so tired of reading all of the negative responses. At least you have a job! At least you don't live in a third world country. At least you have 3 hots and a cot! Give me a break!!!!

It seems like that's all people do now. Even I am guilty of it sometimes. It is very nerve wracking. Especially when there are people that would be happy to be able to find a job as a janitor. Many in America are under pressure and need to vent, so their negativity often out weighs their positivity. I honestly thank whoever said that complaining about it sure enough won't make it any better. That just makes everyone else get in the same "stinky" mood that other complainers are in. Make the best of what you got, and if you ain't happy, get up and do something about it.

And getting "smart" or cynical about comments doesn't it better either, because your just asking for a disagreement which could lead to this forum being shutdown. WE have to try to play "nice" as best we can or eventually no one will ever be able to post on allnurses.com

Man, you guys...so to some this image is patronizing. Some are a little shellshocked, so to speak...a little jaded. Some have a romantic view of nursing...so what. Daring to care and making a difference are good themes to live by if you're a nurse; don't you all think?

EVEN IF...J and J is really just making nice cause they make so many products and want to make sure they have a good financial stake in the medical industry. I'm the one who gets a little tear in my eye when I see the add....and I am very clear in knowing its all about hands in each other's pockets. One CAN be soft and hard at the same time. Not bad qualities for nurses either, I think.

I dislike those ads because to me they are schmaltzy and patronizing. In my opinion, they really emphasize the angel of mercy aspect of nursing and minimize the technical and intellectual side (the side about which the public seems to be perpetually ignorant).

Hey, if caring were enough, anyone could be a nurse.

Honestly, I love the commercials, I know they can be kind of cheesy but I do like them they actually make me teary eyed sometimes!

I think what irritates me is the slogan, "Be a Nurse." It seems to insinuate that just anyone can be a nurse, without mentioning all the hard work that goes into it...all you have to do is "care."

Like it or not. It inspired me more to pursue a career in nursing. To many may have left a bad taste and not all it's up to be as the role a nurse, but I'm thankful SOMEONE appreciates and recognizes nurses. We are truly the neck that turns the head.

I LOVE the nurse educator one! As a nurse educator, it makes me feel proud to recognize that I have touched so many lives through my teaching (students, their patients and the families).

A lack of applicants isn't the issue when you have trouble entering a NS with a 4.0 GPA. They have to use entrance exams now just so they place all the 4.0 students in order just so they can pick which get a spot and which don't. Basiclly the schools response to the nursing shortage is a lack of clinical spots and not applicants or teachers.

Personally I don't mind the ads, but some of them are a bit sappy.

i have to say -- i love it!! kind of cool that we have our own theme song...;)

May the commerical be corny, I always found it kind of nice that there is a commercial appreciating nurses.

:hug:I thank J&J for their continous support of the nursing profession.

I like the commercials. They are kind of corny, but it does make me feel good to get recognition. I think we are just not used to recieving praise. Like a bunch of emotionally abused people.
