I think 1 week is too little but it's nothing like working in a hospital would I take it,probably! You can continue to interview and apply at other facilities while you're getting experience and pay. Sent from my iPhone using allnurses

Believe me you will not be getting 3 months of orientation in LTC if you are lucky you'll get a month at the most, just make sure you double check your meds because you will be doing that for the majority of you shift, time management is big in LTC but you will only learn that with time.

Im sorry but I don't think you ever get to like this, its gross but someone has to do it. I just make sure I have everyhting in hand to change it and make it as fast possible.

If your a new grad this is completely normal, just make sure you have all your info ready before you make that call maybe you can practice it once with a coworker.

Why would she need a refresher, that's silly! And very expensive specially when she's currently working.

That's crazy that they would use precedex for intubation, they probably have not been formerly educated with this drug. I have used it many times and we mainly use it to wean the pt off of the vent like other people have mentioned sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. But when it works it works great.

Become a member to a nursing organization you are interested in, also attend CEU's and conferences.

I guess it all depends where you are going to be working, but you'll never feel like your current skills are worthless if anything you'll feel very comfortable being a nurse compared to a brand new grad, of course being a RN will open many doors and it's up to you to take advantage of it. Working in a hospital you'll learn immensely but no matter what you will always use your basic nursing skills.

Is a care coordinator and a case manager the same thing. I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into since I've never done anything besides bedside nursing, I'll be going for an interview at big insurance company in the New England area for a position as care coordinator and I'm not sure what that entitles. I'm sure I'll find out at the interview but I would like to get some info if anyone can help, also I'm not sure what the pay would be I know this position is full time and most likely is salary based.
