Johnson & Johnson commercials

Does anyone else hate them as much as I do?

That stupid jingle: "You're a nurse. You make a difference."

I mean, could it be more corny and condescending?

Also, why is Johnson & Johnson running a nursing ad anyway? Anyone know?

I, personally, like them. Then again, that could be because I am not yet a nurse and can't wait until the day that I can take pride in saying that I am. I do understand that those "jingles" can get caught in your head though. I can't get the freecreditreport.com, or whatever it is, jingles out of my head. Lolz!!! They don't really get on my nerves, per say, though.

The commercials aren't that bad, but the jingle is very annoying.

the johnson & johnson campaign for nursing™ started in 2002.

the johnson & johnson family of companies has a long-standing commitment to the health care community.

"we believe our first responsibility is to the doctors, nurses and patients, to mothers and fathers and all others who use our products and services..." - our credo

we are acutely aware that today our nation faces the most profound shortage of nursing professionals in its history. a shortfall of nearly half a million registered nurses as well as a serious shortage of nursing educators over the next decade threatens to disrupt both the quality and availability of health care services.

enrollment in nursing degree programs has fallen 17 percent over the last five years. adding to the problem, registered nurses are leaving the profession at an ever-increasing rate. all of this is happening as the largest single generation in our nation's history reaches its age of greatest health care need.

to address the nursing shortage, we have developed a nationwide campaign in support of the nursing profession. working with health care leaders and nursing organizations like the national student nurses association, the national league for nursing, the american nurses association, the american organization of nurse executives, and sigma theta tau international, we hope to bring more people into nursing, develop more nurse educators, and retain the talent already in the profession

campaign overview

the johnson & johnson campaign for nursing's future is a multi-year, $50-million national initiative designed to enhance the image of the nursing profession, recruit new nurses and nurse faculty, and help retain nurses currently in the profession.

from discover nursing website:

i find your commercials to be too "touchy feely." can you change them to focus more on the challenges of the nursing profession?

we have produced many videos and commercials, some of which focus more on technical aspects of the nursing profession, as well as the caring and compassion of nurses. we recognize the incredible difficulty of the job of nursing and the skill required, and we focus on encouraging people to develop these skills and learn more about educational opportunities and specialization at our website, www.discovernursing.com, where you can also order materials and videos: www.discovernursing.com/free-materials-brochures.

I agree, not very professional. Still too much of the calico dress, floppy hat, skipping through the field of daisies impresson. We are not just a bunch of "mommies" who want to take care of everybody else too!! :barf02:

I've never even seen the commercial, and didn't see the link at YouTube. Anyone have it?

I don't really care for them, either. Too much focus on the "angel" aspect of nursing. I wonder what J&J gets for promoting nursing. Saying there is a "nursing shortage" isn't quite appropriate in these times, is it?

Gosh,

Stop complaining! You chose this career. Nobody made you do it. If you don't like it, quit. J&J is just trying to encourage us. I am so tired of reading all of the negative responses. At least you have a job! At least you don't live in a third world country. At least you have 3 hots and a cot! Give me a break!!!!

I so glad this isn't one of those message boards where people are able to express opposing points of view.
