First of all, I was fired 3 weeks ago from my first job. I worked there for a month and fired because of med error. If anyone of you wondering the welfare of the patient, I tell you - she is SUPER OKAY! She doesn't have any adverse effects. Her vital signs are in normal range. It was my first offense and a self reported error. The Director said straight to my face that I am incompetent. It broke my heart. I am currently looking for jobs with no luck. I look EVERYWHERE. I went directly to nursing homes and rehab facility but still no response. I am so down right now. To make it worse, my dad got fired also in his job. My family is jobless, and no money to buy stuff. Why do bad things happen to good people??!! I am so desperate that I am thinking of applying to department stores, restaurant or anywhere that is hiring. Its so shameful that a NURSE IS WORKING IN THE DEPARTMENT STORES! I will be a laughing stock to my batch mates, relatives and friends. Do you guys have similar experience? What did you do? What should I do?!

Craig's list work as an independent nurse
Get a recruiter, go to rehab facilities where you're not really giving meds

first, forget about what people think. They will have a problelm in their life sometime - lif is like that. Think about you.
I know an ICU nurse working at Walmart. If she ever gets a job that suits her situation she will take it. Otherwise, she will keep looking. Do not despair.
I wish you the best of luck.

I hope so. Right now, I really depresses me. Ever since I graduated, I never had time to relax and enjoy the world. I try not to be picky in choosing jobs. Thank you very much.

I work in an ICU, two of my coworkers waitress on the weekends. They make more there, then they do during their 12 hour shift. Do what you have to do, do not let others opinions affect you.
Thank you so much! You lift up my spirits.

You most likely could still do private duty, look into Home Health. You do what you have to do. Don't worry about what other people think, there are "professionals" who do other work to make up for what their salary does not pay or to be in a more joyful environment. Look on line at the search engines, I am sure something will come up. In the meantime, the holiday season is coming and temporary jobs will be opening up, so it is a good time to look.

If your friends and family are laughing at you in your time of need...you need a new circle.

Sometimes the toxic people in our lives need to be escorted out of our lives.

I know a nurse who worked at 7-11 because it had a better benefits package!
An honest living is just that. Some people have too much wrapped up in job status. I've always said I'd rather have an employed plumber in the family over a unemployed historian.

It is never shameful to have honest employment. People do what they have to do to survive, and for some folks that means working in department stores, coffee shops, and gas stations until better opportunities come along. If you have friends and family who would laugh at you for working for a living, find better friends and tell your family to stuff it.
