Is A&P really the hardest of them all?

I'm just finishing A&P I, and signed up for A&P II for next semester. I'm 30 years old, a new mother, wife, lalala....decided to change career paths, so its been a while since the last time I've been in a school environment. I have to be honest and say A&P I kicked my butt. I've heard A&P is the hardest of all the classes, but then I heard Microbiology is the hardest, and it seems like everyone has a different opinion. I just want to see what the overall thoughts are......What is everyone's take on this? When your finally in the program do the classes get easier/harder? And any suggestions on A&P II??? :loveya:

A&P and microbiology aren't that difficult if you have the time to study 15 hours a week.

The post above me is probably right. The more time you can put into your science classes the better. However, it's hard to say which is easiest because it depends a lot on the professor.

If you survived A&P with a decent grade then I wouldn't worry...unless the teacher didnt challenge you enough. Good luck!

I personally thought Chemistry was the hardest one. I got a B in A&P I and an A in A&P 2. It depends on a lot of factors, the professor..the amount of time you study..how well you process the information.

I'm just finishing my first semester in nursing school, working my way through my last exams and finals. Trust me..once you start taking exams in nursing school, A&P will seem like it was a piece of cake!!

Good luck!

I was a SAHM who home schooled her two kids before deciding to go back to school myself. I concur with what itsmejuli said, AP and Micro aren't that difficult as long as you take the time to study. I took AP2, Micro and Gen Psych together during the summer semester, but I had no life except for schoolwork (seriously!). Luckily my kids are older (15 & 11) and my hubby happened to be home on s/t disability, so they picked up the slack for me in the meals area.

I'm going for my BSN and need every pre-req, so I have 5 sciences (AP, Micro, chem, etc), a couple math and the rest social science types - the whole spectrum. The sciences are challenging but interesting, so that makes up for it. The hardest class for me personally was College Algebra, it kicked my butt. I hadn't had math in 20+ years and have always had poor teachers, so I hated it. The class was HARD, but I found out last week I got my A. All the rest of the classes from English to Anthropology have been a snap. I still have 5 pre-reqs to go and then I am done.

I'm sorry, I can't give you any AP2 advice, my brain has turned to end of the semester mush and I can't think past this semester to give you anything helpful. I loved the heart and circulatory system so much I think I may pursue cardiac care. Just don't fall behind in your studying and keep up on your assignments - it will be over before you know it. Good luck!!

BTW - Micro was my favorite class. I lent my book out this semester but plan on reading the second half, which I think is patho stuff, during the Christmas break, just because it was COOL. I just loved that class!

I am taking both A&P and Micro with the same teacher, and I can say in our school, Micro IS harder. The test are more detailed. You have to do lab write ups for each lab in Micro plus reports during the semester and a final unknown report. So far I have A's in both classes, but I study much more for Micro.

I have taken A&P I and II and II was a little different in that it focused more on the why, and not just the memorization. I am taking Micro right now and it is kicking my butt, but I LOVE it. I just wish I would have refreshed my chemistry before this class. Just put your head down and study, study, but most importantly take breaks, get some fresh air to regroup.:redbeathe

I wish that statement was true lol med/surg is the worst youll prob. encounter. Ive studied so hard and im barely getting a B.

AP II for me is the easiest because it is all about the human body in a less intricate way. it's fascinating to see first hand the organs, glands, different structures of all 206 bones in the body, and how all the body systems work together. it does require just as much reading as AP 1 and maybe even more depending on ur professor.

Microbiology is a totally different ball game. now u're dealing with micro orgamisms (bacteria, viruses fungi, protozoan, and parasites) u will be required to know a bunch of micro orgamisms, the kind of disease they cause, places in the world where they are most dominant and places in the body where they like to inhabit. just like AP1 & 2, micro has lab sessions too.

it's not so difficult once u understand and memorize staining techniques (look this up and get familiar with it before taking the class).

i wouldn't advise u to take these two classes together, however, if u are capable of going it, go ahead.

I wish u the best

I think I'd say that a&p was harder just because of the amount of information...it's just endless! Having the time to study was probably the most important factor for those classes. The good thing is that it's all so interesting! I worked so hard and ended up with an A in both.. I'm still so proud of myself.

I absolutely loved Micro. Everyone at my school would scare eachother about it, but I didn't think it was that bad. I even had the teacher who everyone said to "drop immediately", but it was my last semester so I had no choice but to take her. I loved her, she was fascinating and one of the smartest people I've ever met. Our tests were impossible, I honestly don't know how I pulled an A. All fill in the blank/essay. My favorite thing was the lab though.. swabbing door handles, staining, and I think I perfected my microscope skills there too.

ps - I really liked a&p II. I can still draw the heart and explain the blood flow through it and the body. Fascinating!

For me it was Math!

A&P 1 and 2 Lots of information but fun I loved that class. Our instructor was hard but respected him for being such

Most people say its AP but i guess it depends on the person

nah. I thought microbiology was the hardest.
