  1. ive been thinking about this question and still unsure of the right approach to take. a nurse prepares an IM injection for a patient and wasn't aware of the patients size. she used a 1 1/2 inch needle for a cachectic patient. once she realizes her mistake, what is the right course of action? should she discard and prepare another medication using a 1 inch needle or should she just change the needle size without discarding the med? thanks guys
  2. u didn't put me on the spot or anything like that. i do have a 4.0 GPA (not that i'm bragging about it) but i can't change what's in the system. u asked if it's possible and i'm telling u it is but if u already have it in mind that it's impossible, my effort to convince u will be worthless. or maybe i'm not being clear enough on my part, if that's the case, well then i think it would be best to seek ur answers from someone capable of explaining in the simplest of terms. i should answer other questions now.
  3. have ur GPA ever remained the same? it fluctuates depending on what grades u get. u must understand that i've taking a bunch of other classes (besides the pre reqs) which i drastically increased my GPA. so, that's how i landed at a 4.0 GPA. i hope this answers ur question.
  4. i'm in the evening program. as for my textbooks, we have not been provided with the name of textbook we should get. i dont even know what color scrubs we'll be wearing...lol did u get my message?
  5. my friend isn't majoring in nursing...lol {she majors in business administration} and i will meet with the nursing dept on January 7 in NJ (trinitas) not queensboro...lol again. u seem to have a bubbly personality or maybe ur SUPER excited. i wish we could be friends tho. :icon_hug:
  6. i just got accepted after constant rejection from 4 schools. (can u imagine...lol) i decided to do something different. i live in NY and it felt like everyone wanted to be in the nursing program. this led the nursing departments to make their requirement almost impossible. people found it difficult to get in. furhermore, it's EXTRA COMPETITIVE; a GPA of 3.9 will be of no use when everyone in the program stand at a 4.0. ( even some of those in the waiting list had 4.0 GPA). i decided to apply to less competitive schools, like the one i got accepted in. if u apply to 3-4 of such schools, u boost ur chances of getting accepted.
  7. a lot of people are going in for the money rather than for the love of the profession. those ones will soon realize what a terrible mistake they've made. nursing is not for everybody. i've had people tell me, and i quote, i hate the sight of blood but i want to be a nurse. i couldn't help but shake my head. even if such people make it in, they will voluntarily quit and rethink their career path.
  8. Congratulations i also received my letter last week. i'm super excited and nervous at the same time. again congrats :hrnsmlys: ps a friend of mine goes to queensboro
  9. i will be in trinitas Jan 2010 and i keep heaing terrible things about the school. i dont know what to think or believe.
  10. DEFINITELY. u should take chem before micro. some topics in micro has a lot to do with chemistry. u dont want to look lost in class when those chemistry topics are being discussed.
  11. different schools, different requirement my school accepts 2.5 GPA and higher but of course, someone applying with a GPA of 4.0 will be accepted first. u did the right thing by applying to different schools. that would really boost ur chances. and as for my GPA, it stands at a 4.0 although i'm not in the program yet. i'll begin in Jan 2010.
  12. i have been in a similar situation. even if u dont get in, re-apply or transfer to a school where ur chances of getting in will be higher. i have been turned down by 4 schools. i should be feeling discouraged, right? Wrong. i chased my dream with more effort and now i'll be starting my nursing classes in Jan 2010. Lesson: DONT GIVE UP. try again and again and again. u will make it.
  13. thank u for this advice. i will also start in Jan 2010 and i will definitely yield to ur advice thanks again.
