Who has taken chemistry and anatomy together?
I will be taking evening classes. If I study for ten hours on the weekend, how many hours do you think I should study each day?

Does it seem like EVERYONE is trying to be a nurse?
But with a shortage of experienced nurses now leading to higher stress and more responsibility...won't an even BIGGER shortage lead to making it an even higher stress job?

How much is too much for student loans?
A misconception that many people have is that simply HAVING a credit card means that you have credit card debt. You turn 18, you get a credit card, you purchase only items that you already have the cash to pay off. No interest owed, and credit score goes up. I'm not quite sure how a person is expected to buy a car without a car loan? I saved half of all my money from working starting at 16, and that was all I had to pay for college AND buy a car. After building up my credit with a credit card, I was able to get a very nice used car and secure a loan with a very low interest rate. I would not have been able to do that without a decent credit history. It's a personal finance class from high school that taught me to build up my great credit. I have paid off all student loans and car payment, and I save money and max out my IRA contributions each month on a small budget.Be careful following Dave Ramsey. I fear for people who follow his investment advice when it comes to the stock market. I also don't trust financial advice that is tied to religious views.

How much is too much for student loans?
Actually, credit cards and car loans are some of the best ways to build POSITIVE credit history. Loans and credit cards paid on time and eventually paid off increase a credit score immensely. I was 23 and had better credit than my friends and family who had no debt because I had credit cards and a car loan that I paid off. They couldn't get approved for things like apartments because they had NO credit history. Sorry to go off topic, but I am a fan of looking at all sides of a situation. You can't say that certain things are always good or bad.

Accelerated BSN programs that do NOT require letters of reference?
They only have an EL-MSN program, not an ABSN anymore.

Am I ignoring all the signs?
Maybe that's it. I don't really get excited about it. I mean, there are aspects of it that I favor because they make logical sense. But, I don't get excited like I was excited about a couple things in the past. I think one of the things that is pushing me along is all the people I know who are pursuing nursing (I started another thread about it). I think that it makes me want to do it because I will be jealous of them if they make it as an RN, and I am stuck at some other job making a lower salary. I KNOW that shouldn't be a factor AT ALL. I just started thinking about it as I was replying to this, so I am writing it out.

Am I ignoring all the signs?
I have spent the last year or so trying to get myself back into school for nursing prerequisites. I shadowed a nurse a while back and just felt...ok...about the profession. It didn't seem like the best or worst job out there, so I though I should go for it. But I have been having doubts and I'm wondering if doubts now mean that I shouldn't even pursue the profession at all. ~Last spring and this fall, I signed up to take Anatomy. Each semester before the first day of classes, I chickened out and dropped the class. I even bought the book this semester and ended up having to sell it back for less money. ~I keep thinking about all the other things I would like to do as a career, but then I keep coming back to nursing because it will make so much more money than anything else I want to do. I like helping people (customer service for ten years) but the money is definitely a factor. ~I look at how many people are trying to become nurses, and it's like I feel exhausted even thinking about a job search that wouldn't happen until years from now. ~I worry about not getting all A's in the prereq's because I know in my area (southern Cal...orange county) it means that you aren't getting in. ~I have been taking other classes that don't count for anything toward an ADN. Am I completely ignoring the obvious...or do other people think these things, too? I'm just having such a hard time thinking of what other lucrative career I can pursue that's NOT nursing, that I keep it on the top of my list career-wise. Gah...this is so frustrating.

Does it seem like EVERYONE is trying to be a nurse?
I've been contemplating going back to school to do prereq's for nursing. All of a sudden it seems like everyone I know is going to be a nurse! Does anyone else see this? Four girls I work with, about fifteen friends on Facebook, and at least 1 or 2 random people a week. Do you think this has to do with the recession? Are people just all going back to school to get a healthcare career for more job security? I can't think of why else this would be happening so quickly??
