  1. Honestly no one is thinking about how you are the only guy in the class and if they do its not because they think its weird or anything. Out of 91 nursing students at orientation there were only about 5 guys. I think that the nursing field could use more men. Dont be afriad, get out there and do what you love!
  2. Thanks very much, I didnt consider looking at drugstores.
  3. Is there a good site to buy all of the items required for classes? I keep finding stethoscope kits and all but it doesnt include everything we need. I need a stethoscope, bandage scissors, hemostat, penlight, small ruler, and a barrier device for cpr with one way valve. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  4. Thanks so much! I will def keep everyone posted.
  5. Well i prepared myself for failure but got in, I am so excited and scared all at once.
  6. First of all thank you very much for all of the congrats. I have worked hard to get where I am today. My GPA was a 3.2, my school requires a 2.7 to get in. I only took the HESI to get in which requires an 80% to pass it. I got an 85%. I have never been one to make the highest grades so that is why I was so shocked that I got in. I have not taken a Teas, I dont even know what that is lol. The nursing program is very competitive so I really cannot tell you why they accepted me over someone else. I do know that I was considered first pull because I had all my prereqs done before even applying including some of the nursing classes they allow you to take before hand.
  7. For all of you worrying about having a bad GPA I had only a 3.0 and was accepted. Our school has horrible waiting lists and I managed to make it through. I had all As and Bs except my sciences, so if I can make it then so can you! Good luck!

  9. I really really really thought I didnt get in but I got my letter today and I am so excited!
  10. Well there is always a silver lining at the end of the tunnel. I am currently an ob scrub tech (uncertified) and I was told if I take the online course for 6 months I could do my clinicals where I work and when I get certified I will be getting paid 20 bucks an hour. So if I dont get into clinicals right now this route would be great for me since I am already there.

I am currently an Ob scrub tech in the hospital and I would like to take the course through medtexx but I would like to hear from someone who has taken it already. If I take this and get certified my pay doubles. I would like to hear any input on this, thanks.
  12. I am a scrub tech in labor and delivery about 20 hours a week. I also have 3 kids and go to school full time.
  13. We wont find out until after final grades are posted next week. I pretty much know the answer though. Its extremely competitive. There are only a few spots open each year due to the waiting lists.
