I'm turning 25 soon and I want to be a RN, am I kidding myself? I only have a few general Ed courses taken and well I'm pretty much starting out from the bottom. I've taken breaks between schools and did not take it seriously from the beginning. I get discouraged because everyone tells me that the programs are wait listed and it takes like 4years to get 2 year degree. Anyone out there in my shoes?

it all depends on if you got family, kids and all that some people take longer some do not. 25 is a great age to start this career. I think some people, well not that they too young just they may not be mature enough to handle nursing school and all the stuff it throws at you.

Good day:

Ditto on what man-nurse2b wrote.

Thank you.

I'm 25 and start my LPN to RN bridge pre reqs this fall :) I will most likely have my associates when I am 28. It's the perfect time for me to go, I wasn't ready till now.

Graduated LPN school a few months after turning 39, just graduated LPN to RN bridge a few weeks after turning 44. **And I wasn't the oldest in the clas ;)**

Nope you are FAR from too old.

I started my pre-reqs in January 2011 and now I am about to graduate from my ADN program this December. I just turned 26 too. You can do it!!

I didn't want to be a nurse until I had children, as strange as that sounds. I never considered myself a nurturing, poop cleaning, blood dealing with type person until them. I'm 27, will be 30 when I graduate with my BSN

Are you kidding me? I will be 26 when I start pre nursing this fall. My counselor told me that the oldest student at my school was 86! You're not too old, because either way, whether you go to school or not you're going to be getting older anyway. So why not do it doing something worth while?

I'm 43 and started last year. I took courses every semester (including summer) and knocked out all the pre-reqs in a year. I'll start nursing school in the fall.

You are so young, so go for it!!! Never let age hold you back :) The average age of nursing students at our school is 28. You fit right in to that demographic, no worries!

Good luck :D

If everything goes right I will be 32

I am 33 with four school aged children. I have taken prereqs on and of for years. I had to start from the very bottom. Now I only have four prereqs left before I apply. I wanted to have all my prereqs done before applying.

I started nursing school at 26. Single mom of 1 child at the time. Went full time for my bsn. Halfway through the program I had another baby. Again a single mom of now two girls. I graduated at 30 and love my job. Worked on the weekends and stayed up most nights doing homework. It was hell but worth it! Good luck.

Ps I agree with PP I saw 18 year olds blow it all In School because they were too concerned with partying and not studying. They didn't care and they failed on their parents dime. I think it's better to go to school when you are a bit older and know how bad you want it.
