I'm turning 25 soon and I want to be a RN, am I kidding myself? I only have a few general Ed courses taken and well I'm pretty much starting out from the bottom. I've taken breaks between schools and did not take it seriously from the beginning. I get discouraged because everyone tells me that the programs are wait listed and it takes like 4years to get 2 year degree. Anyone out there in my shoes?
Go for it! Not always but often times I think living a little bit of life makes for a better nurse... I'm 24 now and having seen a good handful of things I had not seen at 18, 19, 20... I can relate to most situations and don't cower when patients yell at me. For me it's the best time and when you're ready is the best time for you!
You are not too old! I turned 25 a few months ago and I just enrolled in school to get my BSN. I have only taken a few college courses a few years ago so I'm also starting from the bottom so I know how it feels. Don't let anyone get you down, if this is what you want to do stick with it!
I've seen a lot of older people going back to school while taking my core classes and it makes me realize that I'm not allowed to use age as an excuse. Just go slow and steady, and the cool thing about nursing is that if worse comes to worst, maybe you can major in bio since nursing is so bio heavy anyways?
started the journey at 25, I am now 26 set to begin the first clinical come this fall, you are fine. Not everyone knew they wanted to be a nurse fresh out of high school-and that is ok. Yes looking back I do wish I began the journey earlier, but you can't change the past, one can only go forward. I assure you there is nothing wrong with starting the treck to nursehood late..
When I took anatomy, one of my lab partners was 25 and he's going into his clinicals in August. He wasn't the oldest person in the class, either. There are many people that are so much older than you just starting out. If it's what you want to do, don't think twice about it.
Wow 25.That's old?
girl, it's never too late for ambition and education! i'm 25 as well, but i started a year ago. there are women in my class who are mid-forties, which is great! i've had women in my previous classes who are returning to school after their kids left home. best of luck, it's absolutely never too late!
I was 22 when I started prereqs and 25 when I started my BSN program... I am 26 now and will have just turned 27 when I graduate in May 2014! The way I see it is you will continue to age regardless of if you pursue nursing or not... might as well be older and doing what you enjoy! :) Go for it!!

I will be turning 24 right after starting the nursing program this fall! I dropped out of college after my first semester of classes in 2007 because I didn't take school seriously and didn't return until 2010 after moving and transferring schools. My classes didn't transfer as equivalents and I pretty much started all over! It is never too late to go back to school and fulfill a dream that you have!! I know plenty of others who are older than me that choose nursing as a career!
