HI. I hate the floor i have clinicals on. I hate waking up at 5am. I really hate that i cant finish my hw tonight bc i have to wake up at 5am. i dislike that i have to go to bed and not finish watching golden girls. hmpf.

thats all.

feel free to add ur gripes PRN haha.

goodnight.

There's a shuttle bus here too but it's so dang confusing! Besides, with my luck, if I were to take the shuttle bus, something would happen and i'd end up late. And it's 17 bucks a day to park in the ramps. I have yet to find street parking nearby because it's this tangled mess of streets with no parking.

I have to turn in my paper soon for my preceptorship and there's a section on there that asks if there's any place or specific unit that you don't want- I'm going to list the entire hospital LOL. I'm rather interested in the smaller hospitals nearby (and you don't have to pay for parking!)

I know we have to pay to park for clinical or take a shuttle that we have to wait 15-30 minutes for! And I would rather burn my ati book!!!!! And yes their are a ton of mistakes in the tests!

If I see one more sitcom,tv series, movie with the nurse in a sexy outfit - meaning short tight skirt or dress with lots of cleavage, I'm gonna scream.

I totally agree with you! I hate early clinicals. I hate how most of the professors are mean and like to make you feel stupid. I hated my clinical instructor who was on her phone all the time and never was with our group. My partner asked her to help show her a skill she didnt understand and she flat out said no. I hate having to guess what the exams are on! And all the crap we have to deal with. I attend such an unorganized program! But all our hard work will be worth it :) also I miss my friends and family. And I miss having money :(

LOL this is too cute and that is exactly how I felt when I learned I had to do geriatrics for 6 weeks...waking up early to be at clinical at 7 am (I dont' mind early clinicals I just hated the rotation I was on) and dealing with just a boring (but always busy) floor...my biggest pet peeve was trying to write these darn nursing care plans for patients (even if they implemented the short and long term goals) couldn't be met

I am also not looking forward to the psych and med/surg rotations this summer either

I hate ATI, our a$$hole nursing director, nursing school politics, brand spanking new teachers with the "holier than thou" complex that can't teach their way out of a wet paper bag, early mornings, our unbelievably unorganized program that loses everything we give them and then says "you never gave it to us", SIM lab (it's useless in my opinion), I definitely hate my uniform and the shoes, bull$hit answers to good questions, and most of all the title of "student!" I just want to graduate, pass boards, and work with all the cute little geriatric people I can find (I of course would never address them in this way, but I can think it all I want), preferably geriatrics with late stage dementia, love, love, love them!

Oh and I vow that I will NEVER do another hand written bull$hit care plan or concept map again!!!!

That felt nice :smokin:

I hated having SO much down time in some of my clinicals. I also hated careplans. I think they were effective the first semester or two of clinical, but it was overkill and redundant after a while. We spent so much of our day focusing on gathering all of the information required for the careplan (20 pages worth) that we missed out on gaining valuable hands-on experience.

I too hate having so much downtime in my clinicals. I am a first semester student & we do basic care and assessments (for ONE pt) but can only give meds with our instructor present. The nurses always ask if we can help with things but we are not allowed without our instructor present. I get it, but it is SO FRUSTRATING. I also get frustrated when I explain to people that I cannot do something because I have to study. Scene: working on clinical paperwork. I have 3 tests in the next 10 days, 2 of them being finals. Boyfriend asks "hey what were you thinking of doing Saturday? We should go to that street fair downtown all day!"

Me: "I can't"

Boyfriend: "Why not? You said you didn't have anything to do but study this weekend."

Me: "Yeah.... that's why I can't go... I have to study."

Boyfriend: blank stare "ALL weekend?"

uhhhh....

I am so thankful to be done with clinicals FOREVER!!!

My complaint is that it seems like every single job wants at least a year of experience. No wonder retention rates for new nurses are so terrible! New grads are taking whatever they can get so they can apply for the job they really want in a year. If more facilities would just hire new grads, maybe they wouldn't move around so much.
