If Tulsa becomes a hotzone, I won't be volunteering there

Nurses COVID

No masks?

No social distancing???

If you get sick , don't count on me..

Am I the only person who it totally over this COVID19 BS-everybody keep your distance, wear your masks CORRECTLY, wash your hands, and don’t touch your face. I live in FL. Over 100,000 positives to date. My husband works as a medical manufacturer service engineer and is thrown into hot spots every day. I am a nurse and have multiple risk factors. People go about the area like any other day now. Amazing how quickly people forget that there’s a virus out there they could catch, may or may not get ‘sick’, and potentially kill others...so over this crap

I'm totally over it as well. That means, I've gone back to normal daily routines. LOL "don't touch your face". News flash: We ALL touch our faces many, many times daily, without even realizing it. These so-called public health experts' "recommendations" are absolutely comical in their impracticality. "Mom! You're five and a half feet close to me! May day May day!!"

Let's get real. They have no clue what they're talking about, so they'll spout off random things from month to month ("No masks needed!... Oh wait, everyone has to wear a mask, or FINES!") just to maintain the pretense of authority and competence. They really know that Corona can't be defeated, and the whole plan is to "flatten the curve" to just spread all the dying out for wayyyyy longer periods of time so the hospitals don't fill up with corpses all at once.

I stopped listening to them. They don't have the cojones to tell everyone the truth, so they have no credibility to make diktats.

You’re wrong. This has already been explained to you but for some reason it doesn’t appear to register.

The spreading out of deaths over a longer period of time is just the ”by-product” of flattening the curve. (If a vaccine should be discovered in the meantime, that’s just a bonus). The main purpose for attempting to flatten the curve, is to avoid that the healthcare system becomes completely overwhelmed. Many people who don’t die from a Covid-19 infection, still require hospital and rehab care, often for long periods of time. Also, hospitals need to be able to take care of the myriad of other non-Covid chronic or acute illnesses that happen regardless if there is a pandemic going on, or not. And accidents/traumas.

You’re a nurse. Surely you can see the bigger picture here?

Let's see if I can explain this yet another way...

Suppose, for argument's sake, President Trump had done the whole New Zealand thing, and shut down the entire country very early on. (Would two-faced liberals call him a dictator for doing it? They already do, so who cares what they think.) Trump clamps down everything in February, no travel, no trade, nothing. And the Coronavirus cases in the U.S. had dropped to zero.

Keep in mind that the U.S. is not some North Korea-style "hermit kingdom". Our economy is closely intertwined with the global economic system, so if we cut off trade with China, Mexico, Canada, the EU, etc., we end up in deep deep Great Depression II territory. But we have no Corona and we open up internally (within our borders) again.

And even in the midst of the depression, just one person from another country (be it from Sweden or Brazil or eSwatini or wherever) who is COVID-positive somehow inexplicably shows up to the U.S.

Then the outbreak starts all over again! So all of that social distancing and Depression was for nothing. Nothing.

Every single time you close up America, have all these shut downs, etc., you have not guaranteed that there won't be a third wave. Or a fourth wave. Or a fifth wave. Because eventually, someone who is COVID-positive will end up in the US, and will bring forth a new wave.

It's a silly game that is never going to end. Enough is enough. Just pull the bandage off quickly, let's have Corona take its course JUST ONCE, and not waste any more time than we have to with this.

We don't have immunity.

We don't have some vaccine or a cure.

And we are fed up with the endless lingering about this topic. Let's work toward an endgame: Herd immunity.

Me, too! (Oh, wait. I didn't mean to say that.)

This statement inherently makes you a horrible nurse. Because you don't do this or that I won't take care of you? That is fine you will not volunteer. That is your choice. But your statement speaks volumes about your moral compass and you're stating you wouldn't take care of someone because of a choice they made. That right there is just disgusting and should be reported to the BRN

What? I don't go volunteering lots of places. I wouldn't work in a lot of places. There are reasons I've given certain "opportunities" a pass. OP was voicing her opinion. Last I heard it was still allowed. If BONs start getting complaints from the thought police we're ALL in trouble.

But carry on trying to shut down anything you don't personally agree with.

Indeed! The OP was not talking about a formal paid job ... she was talking about unpaid volunteer work. She has the right to decide where she volunteers her energy and skill. She does not have to answer to anyone else for her decision.

No. I already stated that it’s their right to not volunteer. It’s the harshness of saying they wouldn’t help because of those patients choices. Why post this at all? Who cares if you’re going to volunteer or not? Why post about it? You know why they posted about it....it’s because they were making it political. There was no other reason to post about this scenario. The OP worded the post this way because they didn’t want others to know they would most likely do this in a paid setting as well. Otherwise why would they care if we know they would volunteer or not? Also, I can thought police all I want since that seems to be the trend with liberals these days. Believe what we believe or else. It’s all ***.

That is the trend with liberals. I'm not what's currently referred to as "liberal" (I think the term is now something of a misnomer.) Which is why I don't endorse thought policing.

I also think the BONs need to stay firmly out of the thought-policing business and stick to practice issues. There was a recent such incident in my home province that really frosted my butt.

Imagine commenting about thought police while simultaneously suggesting that someone else shouldn't post or comment because you don't agree with them.

Yikes...

The don't, who cares

Nobody asked.
