Should I be a nurse: I am going to scream! How in the HE double hockey sticks are we supposed to know what is right for you?? I am sorry if I sound rude not my intent, but it just makes me wonder, do you have to have all your decisions made by another person if so you ARE going to have a hard time being a burse. I am a EMT and if I had to ask someone to do XYZ before I do what I know needs to be done, I would have a poor patient outcome. Sorry but this is getting old
My job doing X making over 50k a year is SO BORING!11! Should I be a nurse? My sister, cousin, best friend, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor, uncle, baboon, giraffe, imaginary friend, plumber I hired last week, CEO of my corporation, dog, quadruple amputee friend are going to nursing school - what are your thoughts? Please include detailed information about my personal situation I haven't ventured. Oh by the way, IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A NURSE and im 98 years old.
Also, I think I will be a good nurse because all other nurses go into it for the money and I have ALWAYS wanted to do it, and I think i'm a descendent of Florence Nightingale, so my intentions are better than most.
I get the tshirt too! Flo Nightingale (we called her Flo back then) and I were room mates in nursing school!
OMG! I remember you! I was hanging out with Flo one night, and discovered an unknown fact about her...she was actually the pioneer of rap. Her nickname was "Fly Flo-Ni".
She rapped this little ditty one night when we got slap-happy after studying for 18 hours straight:
"So you got yourself into a fight, right?
And you need a stitch while your're in the ditch, right?
Well I got some thread
For your head
And I brought my lamp
From my camp
So we can fix you up even when there's no light!
Just take yourself a rest, son
I'll let you know when I'm done
I'll get you up and run-nin'
Gotta keep you out of the gun-nin'
Yeah, I'm the cute girl with the bun
Don't forget I'm number ONE!
Holla!"
Yeah, she said 'holla'. Bet y'all didn't think she was that cool, huh?
Wow. As a RT, I came to this site becaues I was making a career change but stayed away for a while because of sentiments such as this. See some things never change. It's amazing how no one values other disciplines until they need us.
If you would have looked at it more closely, that comment included people who are lay-people, pre-nursing students, etc. If you're actually in nursing school, that's great, and there are student forums where you can talk to other career changers. But to have non-nurses jump into a nursing discussion gets really frustrating. No one said other disciplines weren't valued. It does get frustrating, though, to have non-nurses tell experienced nurses, "You should have done this/that." If you're not a nurse, it can be hard to understand everything that goes into a complex nursing situation. While the site administrator has said that others are welcome, the home page does say this site is "nurses talking to nurses." So if a nurse comes here to vent about a nursing problem, she's probably going to want to talk to one of her nursing peers...someone who understands where she's coming from.
Nom nom nom!Just a summary of some of the types of things I've seen
"I've failed 9 out of 10 tests with scores under a 50..eeeeeeeeeek!!!, can I still pass??????????????"
"I just don't get this problem...5mg tablet, and I need to give 10mg...can someome set that math up for me? I just don't wanna ask my teacher because they're like...the teacher"
"Should I report this??????? I was in my 1st week of clinical from 1st semester, and I saw a nurse only scrub her IV port for 29 seconds!"
"Should I report this??? Everyone says this guy is cheating because he only studied 2 hours and got a 98, he has to be cheating because I studied 9 hours everyday for 9 weeks from 9 books and 9 websites, and I used 9 old tests that were handed down to me...but I got a 42. Nursing school is out to get me and the teacher hates me!"
"I gave my pt an IM shot with a 14 guage needle that ended poking through the other side of his arm(I mean it's not my fault he weighed 80 lbs), my teacher failed me because she hates me...they never told me in school that the needle can only go in 1 side of the arm..UGH!!!! that needle thing is so confusing!!!!"
"Ummmmm why do we have to learn all this extra stuff, it's not like we're doctors!"
No offense...but some nursing students are some of the most immature ppl.
There's your problem...you used the Herman Cain method to study for the test!

Exactly what he said....

seriously guys i have no idea this thread would become so long. i see others are fed up with some of the same post but i will admit i peed my pants a little from laughing so hard at some of these threads you guys come up with that are so hilarious, so that being said could you answer just a few more questions for me and golly, no this isn't my homework....lmao
so that admission being made that i peed my pants a bit while i was laughing will that:
-keep me outta nursing school?
-i know we can't ask medical advice here but should i see a doctor?
-since i peed my pants, would job a be better cause it is a ltc and they are used to people peeing their pants or should i try to get the nicu/icu/er job and can they make me charge even though i went my pants on occasion?:imdbb:
-i have a 2.0 gpa, do you think if i e-mailed my teachers, do you think they would bump my grade because i feel this is a disability?
-if i wear my hair up or down do you think that might make me sexy enough that others won’t know i peed myself?
-um....my "friend" has this same problem, what should she do? it is not me of course!
-i think the reason i pee my pants is because the older nurses make me laugh so hard at their complete "oldness". of course i am a new grad, and i am hoping to find a doc to marry or a married one to get pregnant by so i can blackmail them into retirement....is this wrong?:kiss
-i am a new grad and just found out i was pregnant, do you think this is the reason i pee myself, will they hire me still-?
-i am a tech/aide and the reason i sit on my butt while ya'll are killing yourself is obviously because while i am sitting her texting, surfing the net for cure and checking on my order for all things that say rn on it, because if i get up and do work people may see i peed myself, is this wrong?
-i have sent out a quadrillion million e-mails and resume with no response, is it because they figured out i peed myself?
-i am posting a pic on facebook of a patient that not only peed herself, she pooped on herself as well. is this a hippa (said incorrectly on purpose, don’t need those post) violation?
-my preceptor hates me, i don't know why i gave the nitro to the patient as ordered, i did not need to check vitals i know through "vital vision" it is within the parameters, and i even wrote down the meds for you....lasix, inderal and viagra. does she hate me because i peed on myself? obviously as illustrated above i know my medical stuff!!:stdnrsrck:
-and last but not least, should i be a nurse or will the other nurses eat me up because i pee on myself?
this thread has been fun!!
