Would anyone post in it?
I looked forward to being a nurse for so long....my second thoughts aren't because of nurses eating their own (I have never seen that!) or hours or mean docs (haven't seen that either)... it is because the only conservatives I have met are my fellow military vets.
The vast majority of nurses I have met (or been attacked by) have been liberals who treat me like I am insane because I am a conservative! Wow!
So....out of curiousity, how many conservatives are on this board???
It likely only seems like there are more "liberal" nurses because they may be more vocal. The majority of nurses like society in general usually fall somewhere in between the two extremes of being either a hardcore liberal, or a hardcore conservative.
Location thing too. I should trade places with OP. I'm surrounded by people (including my nurse coworkers) that make Fox News and Rush Limbaugh look like liberals.
I have worked in some areas with mainly liberal co-workers, and other areas where almost all my RN co-workers were very conservative. I think alot of it does have to do with what part of the country you are in. As a whole, I don't think nurses tend to be more liberal or more conservative than the rest of the country.
You know, I never thought of myself as conservative.
I just grew up believing that no one owed me anything, that there was no such thing as a free lunch, and that I didn't need a state agency to wipe my behind and legislate my life.
Who knew where my upbringing would take me? I didn't know any better than to go to school, go to work, and take responsibility for my own family. I guess I'm glad I still don't.
