Improvising is great! It's still an ice pack technically anyway..
Mine are just ziplocks with ice in 'em.

At least you aren't just sending the kids outside to stick their body part in the snow banks!

Im a corrections nurse but I lurk in the school nurse forum, because there are SO_MANY_SIMILARITIES. This made me laugh. Because ice-pack-duty-making duty is real.

One part rubbing alcohol and 2 parts water makes a really nice ice pack.

When I was a camp nurse, I did that all the time. If you drape it over a soup can, it freezes in just the right shape to drape over an ankle or wrist.

Also, corn syrup doesn't freeze so it makes a great gel ice pack. :)

That's a high!! ?
I get a gallon sized bag of ice from the cafeteria every week or so, and dole out tiny bags with a couple cubes. Funny part is kids actually return the bags of water to me.
