:redbeatheOkay MCC hopefuls, we are under the 45 day mark. Hopefully within 30 days we will at least have our ranking!!:redbeathe
42 days until letter day.....how are you feeling?
Maybe we should start hoping for May 1st. It would be nice if they would give some kind of heads up for us. They did say 90 days after the deadline, and you're right shannon, there's no way that they're going to make that date. The only way would be if they don't send out the GPA/HESI letters, but that wouldn't be fair for anyone that was messed up. We had to make it by our deadline of Feb. 15, they should have to make their's of April 15.
Ugh......anything yet on GPA/HESI letters? There is no way that the acceptance/denial letters are going to be out by the 15th, if the other letter comes tomorrow the people wanting to contest it have probably until 4-14, and then they have to fix everything. :trout:
What the heck is a GPA/HESI letter? We never got that in previous years. Isn't your score/grade already set in stone anyway?
From what I understand it says what GPA/HESI score they are using and if you think it is wrong you can contact them and have them look at it again. It is because there are a lot of transfers students and our grades are not based just on last 12, it depends on how the classes transfer over. For example 4 credits at Baker transfer to MCC as 2.68 credit hours and honestly a lot of people do not know that when they apply to MCC.
As for the the letter itself it is just something that has been said on the board I have no personal experience since it is my first time applying.

Last year I received a letter dated April 3 (received on April 5th), stating my HESI and GPA scores that I would be ranked on. I had until April 11 to call if I had any concerns. It also stated the 2005, 2006, & 2007 average scores.
Then I received the "nah, we don't want ya" letter dated April 17. I'm not sure about the exact date of receipt, I'm sure it's in my previous posts.

This may be a stupid thought, but isn't it too late to question whether your credits transfer in your favor if the deadline for applying has already passed? Seems like sending people out verification letters just opens up a big can of worms right before the rankings are supposed to come out.
Oh well, I hope you all get nice surprises in the mailbox soon, and it's not a scorecard but an acceptance letter ! My letter came on March 31st, 2 yrs ago
.
I am not sure why they do it or if they are even doing it this year. I guess they do it so no one can complain after the fact that the scores they used are wrong. Man I wish the acceptance/denial letters where already here, I wonder why it is taking so much longer, there must be a lot of people applying this time.
I know for a fact that they will be mailing out the GPA/HESI letter this year because I spoke to someone in person last week who said that they will. (Well, I guess I don't know "for a fact" since everyone seems to be getting different information all the time, but I digress.)
I don't know why they do it either, and I agree with anurse2be09 - it does seem really stupid.
If there are 750 people applying for the nursing program (for example), and 400 of those people have a concern about their grade, how much time do they have to clear up any discrepancies? A week? Then they have to all be re-ranked? If they're having such a hard time scoring 2,000 people in 90 days, I'd hate to see how long it would take for them to re-score 400 people in 7! (All numbers are hypothetical, of course.)
Are we sure you're even "allowed" to dispute your grade anyway, or is this speculation?
Having a letter that gives us the info that we're going to be ranked on would be nice, but I agree with you Toxic, how would they ever get us ranked if they have to correct and rerank. It seems that it would take longer than a week. Grades are set in stone. We can't go back and argue that a B should have been and A. For transfer students, they should have the right to know what their GPA's will be because the credits transferred are different. I know when I transferred from Baker a lot of credits get wiped away. 4 credit hours becomes 2.something, so it would be nice for those students to at least know what they are going to be ranked with. I've noticed in this program there is a lot of "he said, she said", so I guess we all have to wait and see. I've also spoken with different counselors that have given me different information. I'll just be happy when I see a letter from Macomb in the mail, whether it is a ranking letter or an acceptance letter I don't care. I'll just be happy to see that they have made progress in the system.

John20,
Thank you for your encouragement. I really don't think I'm a loser, its just a way of expressing a real serious disappointment.
I'm not feeling shame, but I do feel like I will be losing out by not making it in this year; I really need to move on, and get plugged into a program. Thank you again; I think RT, ST, OT...etc... are all very respectable professions.
