:redbeatheOkay MCC hopefuls, we are under the 45 day mark. Hopefully within 30 days we will at least have our ranking!!:redbeathe
42 days until letter day.....how are you feeling?
Yeah, I agree that MCC needs to get their act together. I realize that every year they have more and more applicants, but I don't understand why they don't try a more effective ranking system. Hopefully next fall they will change their system in addition to their admissions process.
How does MCC even rank anyway? The lady I spoke to said they have to determine GPA by hand. It's 2009, and they haven't figured out how to make a computer do this stuff? lol
I would have no problem speaking with or writing a letter to someone at the school regarding their admissions process. My only concern is that it would work against me and my name would be blacklisted! lol
Well, I think we should politely go to talk to someone (Dean of Students?) after we get our final acceptance letters. Not to bash them, but hopefully help them to understand what it like waiting. I know I'm not the only story out there that this letter is a make or break ya kinda of letter. I am unemployed, and I cannot wait another year or two to be accepted. I have to react once I get that letter and move in the most appropriate direction. I'm tired of saying to everyone... "well as soon as I get my letter"..... It's holding me back in a variety of places right now.I think them not having a due date is detrimental to both the applicants AND to the MCC staff. This whole "up in the air" kinda of date is not working. Their process is not working as effecient as it should be. Their staff gets upset when we ask questions, yet if they broadcasted a due date it would SO much easier on them. They can even say "May 1st" and if it comes earlier... horrah! If they are going to be later, they need to let you know.
Also... don't do this until afterwards. LOL. Last time I was trying to be nice and helpful in my head to Spirit Airlines... what do you know? I was the "random" security check! LOL. But, I feel for us, and I feel for the staff at MCC because they aren't given the tools they need to effectively do what they need to do.
LOL. Yeah, I paid my class with my cc, but haven't gotten a "statement" yet...I'll have to watch out for that letter so I don't think it's something else.
I'm begining to feel run down from all the anxiety and waiting I've been doing. I'm doing my best staying in a positive mind frame... but like you all, this wait is starting to get to me.
Maybe the Easter bunny will have an Easter suprise for us in our mailboxes? LOL.
I thought everyone was told it would be around the middle of April that letters would go out? Why is everyone up in arms when it's only the 7th?
Everyone is worried because according to posts on the board and people talking to staff at MCC they are going to send out GPA/HESI letters first. Last time they were out around the 5th and then you had until the 11th to contact the school. So if they do not come this week then the final letters will be pushed towards the end of the month.
I personally am worried because I have to pay for classes that I am taking for spring/summer by 4-28 and I will have to borrow the money from family or something and I would hate to put them out for a program I am not in. I think the frustration is from all the different information that has been given. I am a transfer student and several times I have been given a different story by the staff about what GPA they are going to use, and there are others on here that had the same problem. It would make me feel better to at least know what they are using for my GPA, if you go to the school and ask they will not tell you so I just have to wait and hope it is what I think it is.

Don't you remember "the wait"? You said that you got your letter the end of March, two years ago. We would have loved to have gotten our letters by the end of March! "The wait" is the hardest part. As shannon said, the main problem is that nobody can get a straight answer from anyone. Almost all of us have talked to someone and we've all gotten different answers.
The letter I received back in January said they had received all the materials they needed to rank me and that I would receive the decision letter 60 days after the February 15th deadline. This puts their deadline around April 15th. Macomb needs to stick with this deadline. I am sure they are aware of all the students out there waiting for their letters, unable to plan the next chapter in their life without it.It is rude to simply ignore all of our concerns. They do this ranking year after year afterall. We all have deadlines at Macomb we have to meet, (paying our tuition on time or we are dropped ) MACOMB NEEDS TO DO THE SAME.

I would say IMHO and personal experience the anxiety is coming from no clear cut date from MCC. Not everyone was told "middle of April", I've seen or heard the end of April, I've heard the end of March.... several different things, but no clear "date". I also have conflicting information and that is driving my frustration. I'm not upset with MCC, just wondering how to make this process better in the future. One of the main drivers of this, is again, no clear cut information. Also, having previous information from years past kinda gives you some sense of hope that you will know around the same time as everyone else. A lot of us are hoping to get into this program (whether that is wrong or right). In my case, I'm stuck in between a rock and a hard place on several personal issues in my life. So, it is getting somewhat cumbersome putting off a number of major decisions in my life waiting. Yes, I choose to apply to this program and I knew that the wait was inevitable, I accept that as being part of the application process.... However, I am hoping that in the future, they can help to reduce the stress on both the staff and the applicants in all Selective Admissions programs.
Also most people here are guessing that since the "middle" of April is about 1 1/2 weeks away, we should be already getting the GPA/HESI confirmation letters now, since they give you about a week to protest...
I know you have been in the same situation as us, and well, we just want to be in your shoes already! :redbeathe I'm suspecting we are those Type A, driven individuals who are anticpating a postive change in our lives. At least that is how I feel. I'm just excited and nervous and a whole slue of emotions right now. So, this is how we are able to vent our stress, by talking to others in the same situation...
Call it enrichment Shannon :) Just kidding! Doesn't Baker have a time frame that you can drop the class and still receive full refund if you find out within the next few weeks? At least then you won't have to worry about spending money on something that you don't need. It's been so long since I've attended Baker that I can't remember their rules. Baker is an expensive college to attend, and we all know how much money we're going to need *when* we get accepted into Macomb's program.
If we don't get our letters on the 15th, we should start calling the next day to see what's going on. Maybe we can set up 5 minute increments and just bug them all day long
Lol.... yep we should keep their phones so busy they will get fed up and rush the letter through.
Ugh....the class I am taking is some what like MCC's nutrition class that I need but of course it does not transfer over. I could drop it I guess but once I start it I might as well finish it either way. I'm not counting on being in MCC's program anyways since everyone's GPA's are so high.
But I still am a stalker and want to know...lol. If I do not get into MCC I get my first semester off since summer 2007, if I get in I will be doing summer classes. I have plans to make darn it...lol.

I knew that this was going to be stressful as well, but that doesn't mean I can't rant about it here. In fact, it SHOULD be ranted about. It's not good to keep in all those feelings of anger and frustration!
