I think it is time for the MCC hopefuls to start count down

:redbeatheOkay MCC hopefuls, we are under the 45 day mark. Hopefully within 30 days we will at least have our ranking!!:redbeathe

42 days until letter day.....how are you feeling?

I guess I just had to mention the mailman, because he just came and my letter was delivered! It's kind of funny how we finally get these letters that we've been waiting so long for on the day that the college is closed. I guess they want a few days off before they start hearing from upset applicants. Well, I'm happy now!

:hpygrp:

I just arrived home and my letter is here. I will not be attending MCC, they used the last 32 of my Baker credits and that lowered my GPA. I really think it is BS that I have to be ranked by almost 3 times as many credits as the average MCC student since I am transfering in, I guess my money is no good to them. Good luck everyone, I am pretty much done posting about this school since they have a poor way of running things.

I got it from the counselors. Why that changed I do not know. I'm a little curious about this too. Maybe 8 people need to take the 1500 courses again from the 2008 class and that is all they have capacity for? Those extra 8 spots were like gold! I was in shock...

If you fail the 1500's you are done, so it can't be that.

You can't blame the school. If you planned on applying to MCC or any other school, it was your responsibility to check and see how your credits would transfer. Baker credits don't count as much as normal credits and that fact has never been hidden.

I did check with the school twice. They said last 18 credits per my transcript. Then they used 33. I checked with them the second time before I signed up for the HESI also once they had the transcript. I told them I did not want to pay $55 and waste my time if they were going further back and they assured me that my last 4 classes (18 credits)only.

I just sat down and figured out my last 18, 33, 41, and 49 credits and none of them add up to the GPA they sent me.

During the semester that contained my last 33 credits I took a waiver test for a computer class and passed it. Baker shows it as a "test credit", does MCC use this as a lower grade or something? Baker does not count it at all but if they did it should be an A.

I am not understanding why they either took more than the 18 like the told me twice or how my GPA in no way is what they said.

I left them a msg but I will be there Monday morning for them to explain what is going on. It is getting old that they tell everyone a thousand different stories. I hate a lot of things about Baker but they keep it pretty much the same on everything.

Did you get anything in writing from them stating that they were only using 18 credits? If so, I would definitely fight it. I know that my advisor (at SC4) always gives me in writing what we discussed at my advising appointments.

No nothing in writing. I met with two different counselors one at Main and one at the 12 mile office and they looked up my transcript and they each said my last 18. I do not understand why no matter how far back I go figuring my GPA it does not match what they sent me.

I changed my post on this afterwards but I added up my last 18, 33, 41, and 49 credits and none of them add up to the GPA they sent me.

Hello fellow MCC Nursing Fall 2009 hopefuls! I received my GPA/HESI letter today too, and my HESI score was rounded down to the nearest whole number. I was wondering, were all of your scores rounded as well, or do I need to try and straighten out my score? Thanks! :)

Mine was a straight number naturally, so I had no rounding going on. :)

Shannon, I am sorry to hear about your GPA. That really stinks. I'm not sure how many of mine they actually used, but it couldn't have been more than the last 26, because that was where my B's were.

If you fail the 1500's you are done, so it can't be that.

I heard from someone in the program you can fail up to two times but you do not have priority over people who have taken I think she said a stop/out which if you for some reason have to stop the program ie medical reasons/pregnancy stuff like that

She said they have been losing one or two per semester and they have to wait til the next group comes up. And with the way they stagger start dates it may have been last years march start group maybe? I don't know I am just guessing. They took 16 of my credits cause of the way my semesters fell so my GPA was over more than 12 as well, I would definitely go in person and try to get some answers. I heard Bakers 4 year program is really good, why macomb if u were already at Baker? I went to baker and they were weird about transferring in credits too. Hope u can get it straightened out! Keep us posted!

Thanks, I am going to try at both Baker and MCC just to leave my options open. I am going to talk to them on Monday because I just do not understand where they are getting this GPA from because it is not even close what Baker shows on my transcript.

Sorry to everyone that I was cranky earlier but it was a huge shock to see a GPA that is a lot lower than expected and does not match.

To the earlier post they rounded my HESI down.
