I think it is time for the MCC hopefuls to start count down
I was 23 with a 3.95 and 95 Hesi. I was told over 2500 applicants (not sure if all nursing or total for Selective Admissions) and 731 people were ranked, that is some serious competition for 152 spots! Here's hoping for August!

Accepted into nursing program at MCC!
I am on the Medtronic Minimed and I really considered the pod until I saw the size of it and started thinking about hiding it. Would definitely work better on a boy! I recommended it for my uncle but he has the same as mine. Actually my pump educator tried them all, she was also Type 1 and she liked the Pod but same issue as me with the bulk with clothes. I really wanted the continuous glucose monitor as well but insurance wasn't feeling it, LOL. Saw online they are a few years away from glucose monitor and pump working together with no more carb counting for us! That would be so convenient the pump doing literally everything and just worrying about infusion points! Best of luck to you, hope the pod works out!

My cousin said a lot of people forget they need a gym credit and that other humanities course but wasn't sure if that affects start dates. Now we can all stress about when our start dates will be!

Accepted into nursing program at MCC!
Very true sentiment! I am also a type 1 diabetic, diagnosed almost 5 years ago, been on the pump almost three years now, and just got into the Nursing Program at MCC too! I was diagnosed during finals week of my first semester back to school after time off to raise babies. I applaud you for everything you are doing for your child. So many people just dont understand the disease and its kind of scary what people dont know, the people who scold you for having sugar when your are having an insulin reaction. My older brother is also type 1 diagnosed at 5 so I was educated already about the disease and was still overwhelmed. Definitely no days off from being a diabetic and the pump makes my life easier 90% of the time (I hate it in the summer out on the boat and getting dressed up, but at least no more huge purse with pens, meter and needles. I had a 3.95 and a 95 and had also heard you need a 4.0 or forget it so I was nervous as well! Congrats again!

Shannon best of luck to you. I had a similar situation happen to me my first time applying to SC4's program, they told me what classes they would take and my gpa, then months later I get a letter saying they took an English class I never withdrew from had an E in (I was pregnant with my son just kind of an idiot move on my part, I was told obviously they wouldn't transfer those credits (since I had none with a zero) but they used it against my GPA, lesson learned, retook that class and I was able to be home for my daughters last year of preschool and once I got over my initial disappointment, realized not to take for granted that last year with my daughter, now they are both in school all day and I am so ready to be busy with school without as many daycare worries and also found out more about SC4 and am glad I decided to pursue Macomb (where I took all my prereqs) took one class at SC4, wasn't impressed). Hopefully Baker or Macomb will work out for you next year (if they look at just the prereq GPA) I kind of agree with the person whose comment was maybe you weren't meant to have a backup plan and RN is your destination! Btw congrats to everyone on your acceptance to other programs! Hope you won't need them!

Thanks for the info! But I figure if all else fails and I have to pay out of pocket Macomb is way cheaper than the 20 grand SC 4 would have cost me, seriously it's insane expensive!

I think it is time for the MCC hopefuls to start count down
Hi everyone- I know this is a little off topic but this thread seems to bring in the responses like mad! Thanks for keeping us all up to date! I want to apply for financial aid but since we will be so delayed finding out whether or not we are even in I have kind of figured I would just pay (if I get in:icon_roll) for the first year myself or try to get some later because I have 60 credits and got denied last year for any financial aid. I have never gotten any in the past (paid for everything myself) and thought I saw somewhere on here that there is a form you can fill out if you have more credit hours but going for a specific degree?? Anyone know anything about this? Where do I get this form and do I fill it out before I apply? Send in with my app? Did anyone have a hard time getting financial aid with Michigans stellar economy? Seems like all you hear are horror stories about trying to get any form of financing.... Maybe I will just call the Financial Aid office... Well I guess I can stop scaring my mail lady, however it is now a conditioned response....I hear the mail truck and I race to the mailbox....she must think I am nuts:yeah: Oh and I have also heard that from now on your clinicals will be assigned for you, you can no longer pick/choose your instructors or try to stay with the same group of students...so yet another change for all of us prospective students to look forward too. And I thought orientation was in June so hopefully we would know by then..right? Or am I just being optimistic? Takes 90 days for GPA and Hesi....hopefully ranking will be easier....or at least one would think. The GPA/Hesi letter was so frustrating...like um yeah HELLO I knew my GPA and Hesi score....so now I can obsess over previous years scores and how mine compare and fret until I get my 2nd letter............

She said they have been losing one or two per semester and they have to wait til the next group comes up. And with the way they stagger start dates it may have been last years march start group maybe? I don't know I am just guessing. They took 16 of my credits cause of the way my semesters fell so my GPA was over more than 12 as well, I would definitely go in person and try to get some answers. I heard Bakers 4 year program is really good, why macomb if u were already at Baker? I went to baker and they were weird about transferring in credits too. Hope u can get it straightened out! Keep us posted!

I heard from someone in the program you can fail up to two times but you do not have priority over people who have taken I think she said a stop/out which if you for some reason have to stop the program ie medical reasons/pregnancy stuff like that

Hi all- Just got my ranking letter today, they will start ranking April 20, so the wait continues! I have a 3.95 with a 95 Hesi both are better than the last three years so here's hoping. Best of luck to everyone and sorry if I gave anyone mail anxiety who is stuck at work, I was just so thrilled to get ANYTHING from macomb, there is an end in sight!
