Abusive and Cruel Clinical Instructors: Why??

I will be graduating in almost 2 weeks. I have noticed something that the original post said that is true. Most other student will just stand by and be happy that it isn't focused on them. Having an instructor tell us that the only way she feels that her students are learning is by her being tough with them seems ridiculous. We spent all this time learning that there are many ways to give patients educational materials, everyone has different learning abilities. This is no different for us as students. I don't expect all my patients to fit into one cookie cutter pattern of learning, but yet, I feel like my instructor does. I gained 30 lbs in the program over the last 2 years... and in the last 6 weeks, I have lost 25 of it. I just want to be done with this.

I am in the 1700's at MCC (as Michelle knows!!). I am really happy it worked out that I am there. I was very disappointment to not get into Baker, but with Baker's program, there are less clinical rotations and less time on the floor. I need that time. I can do the book work fairly easily... but practical use of the information, is a little harder for me, not hard in the traditional sense, but in a I am scared out of my mind to make a mistake kind of way. LOL I am liking the 1700's a bit easier. Although the clinicals are vastly different.

If anyone wants to PM me, I can give you my email or FB name. I find it quicker to respond that way, because both those sites are easily found on my blackberry. What a frustrating day for me today. I need to get over the "someone watching over me" anxiety. :)

Do we only have to wear our scrubs to Labs and not until week 2? I know Baker has to wear theirs to all their classes and I am getting confused. TIA!

Oh, I am sorry Nell. Is he OK?? YOU CAN DO THIS. You are a smart lady and we will all get through it together. You aren't alone, even if it seems like it right now. :)

I haven't heard anything about that scholarship. I called the FA office again yesterday and after I explained that I had like 11 chapters I had to read before Monday, they put it through. 20 minutes before they closed. I should be able to pick up everything else today. Unfortunately I get to drag 4 kids under the age of 7 down there to do it. This should be fun. Sorry for whining. I am pretty anxious and this whole FA thing is just making it worse!

The system set up for FA and getting books is BS. Just saying. I filled out a thing for the book advance and I still don't have any money on my account. Luckily, I got a few of the books used, elsewhere.

Momma, Who Are Those Children In My Room?

Thank you for the story. We are non-religious family, but when my 11 year old daughter was dying her brain tumor, she was debating with people in her room. They told her secrets that she could not share with me (lol) and she kept telling them forcefully to go away. After a couple hours of debate, she told them in a soft voice, "Fine, I'll stay". The hospice nurse had told us she would die within the hour. She didn't. In fact, the next day she woke up and she was relatively lucid the next 6 days. We made a cake in her easy bake that she got for the holiday, we went to the movies twice and we took her out for a birthday lunch with 13 of our friends. We got to do ALL sorts of things we wouldn't have been able to do. I'm so grateful. Whoever or however it works, I KNOW she debated for more time to stay here. It was actually very comforting for me to feel like she wasn't going by herself. It might be angels, it might be ghosts, it might be brain impulses that keep going off... regardless it was comforting. Every story I read like this reinforces that I wasn't just imagining all this. LOL Thanks again,
