  1. nlsRN2012, Congratulations on your first RN job! So what are you doing at Jeff. Barracks? If you don't want to live in the city, Fenton is very close with an easy commute down 141...a nice drive (much better than I270 or 64/40). If you want suburbs...Ballwin has been often named the best value and feels very safe (this is where I live). We have whatever you need and you hit 141 straight to Jeff. Barracks...Fenton is closer, but I like Ballwin/Manchester. The poster above mentioned nice areas if you want to live in the city. If I was alone, I might choose the suburbs (maybe)...we are still a very short drive to the city down I-44...like 10 miles, but it feels like a world away. If you have any specific questions, let me know. Good luck! MOnurse
  2. I am considering the Mobile Pool with Baycare in the Dunedin (Tampa/Clearwater) area. I see they have homecare and floor positions. Was hoping to get a little information from someone that has worked with them. Have also received calls from travel agency companies and would love to hear anyones experience for this area. Thank you! It is difficult to find salary information for this area ...
  3. I love this stuff!! And I am the cynical one :-) Everyone in my family came down with a virus, except for me. Was it the airborne? I don't know, but I was up close and personal with everyone and all got sick except me. MoNurse
  4. PAPAWJOHN Thanks for a great pic of a typical night! MOnurse
  5. Decided to try dialysis nursing...excited, but with several companies in the area, seeking advice on which one to go with based on your experiences. There are other companies just can't think of the names right now. Also, any advice from you all is welcome! When checking these places out, what standards should I be looking for? Avg nurse~pt ratio? number of techs? avg hrly pay? expectations? ALL INFO WELCOME!! Thanks so much for spending your valuable time responding ! MoNurse
  6. What online program did you chose for your RN-MSN? I am researching this now, and am anxious to find a program and get started! MoNurse ~~good luck
  7. Great advice Tony! Thanks alot :-) Are you currently enrolled online? MoNurse
  8. Researching online RN-BSN, RN-MSN programs and have tried the JU demo. It seems much more professional than some others I have looked into. Has any one used them? They are more expensive than some! I like the idea of not spending a fortune...anyone have a great recommendation? Thanks for your input! MoNurse
  9. I work agency here in MO and staff two Kindred locations. The downtown hospital is a nightmare, of course this is my job security. They are always understaffed, call offs/no shows everyday, I have seen a nurse walk out twice, disorganized and not 'pro' nurse. It needs total reconstruction. The South county Kindred is a new facility and so far is more organized, a little more nurse friendly. Still busy busy busy-acute care, all vents, 90% contact isolation, most full code, etc. But again, job security. MoNurse :)
  10. I see you are in Orlando--why Univ of Wyom. instead of Jacksonville Univ. ? Just curious as I am looking into these two schools ? MoNurse
  11. Love this thread, I am looking for an RN-BSN or RN -BSN/MSN online and this thread had links of schools I had not even heard of. Who is NOT happy with their courses? It might help us weed out some of them. I have been looking at Jacksonville--any one enrolled? Now researching the ones listed here with much lower tuition. Tweety, how do you like yours? How is testing handled, etc. Thanks for the info in advance. MoNurse :flowersfo
  12. *RN -- St. Louis 'burbs Lived here for 2 yrs Husband retired military (recently) 2 cool kids 18 & 16 2 crazy dogs 3 old cats from Italy--had since the kids were in 1st grade ...did I mention I live in the zoo? I rescued one puppy, then hubby came home with an 18 mos old dog that was being put down...so proud zoo keepers Working with an agency (usually at Kindred hospitals) and PRN with Luthern Senior Services (snf/ass't) *Frantically serching for an online BSN OR BSN-MSN program in time to begin in the fall...happy to hear suggestions :-) **stumbled onto this site, and LOVE it, I will have to get around to becoming premium member to support it... Looking for a change in Nursing direction...usually work in hospital, oncology (charge), med/surg, well all non-specialty floors with float pool as it usually pays better. Now considering hospice? home health? or new specialty like ICU or ER...I don't know we will see... Love reading your intro's...nice to meet you all MoNurse :)
  13. Is the SLUniv program 100 % online? I am going crazy researching all the different programs...want it to be all online, accredited, affordable (doesn't have to be the cheapest), etc. What other programs did you like at, and why did you go with SLU? Thanks :-) MoNurse
  14. I work with Intrepid, USA and I am very happy with them. Talk to Mary, she is a blast and will help you transition here smoothly. So far, they have the best pay around, and say they beat all competitors. There is always more work than I need. Good luck, and welcome to the area (if this is where you end up). Remember-ask for Mary, and tell her Nadja sent you :-) Let me know how it goes.
  15. ALSO.............Just wanted to make sure my prior comment was not construed as Radiology bashing :-) There is no 1 superstar in the healtcare profession, but many unsung heros. I realize that each specialty has it's own challenges, and that they worked hard to get where they are also. But, in general, I feel nursings responsibilies, hrs, workload, etc, is not inline with our salaries. MoNurse
