New to HH
I don't mind the OASIS form. It's a bit of work, but we have great people in the office able to answer any questions and help any way they can. Since it seems like most of the nursing jobs go to those that are experienced, I don't think they wouldn't give you a shot.

New to HH
Hi! I am new to HH. I am currently in orientation. I started out in my hospital system as a PRN float RN and they had openings for PRN HH and thought I would give that a try. So far it seems as I expected, not much like the hospital. Anyway, when I was talking to a HH recruiter (same company), she was saying that the HH full timers are salary. I am trying to decide if it would be better for me to take on 4 days of PRN days. (6 patients) or work full time 5 days a week. I have 4 kids and I am hoping that I can schedule around things enough that most days I am home to get them from school. Any thoughts on this? I know that with the FT position, I would have to be available until 5 every day. But not necessarily out visiting that late. Although, they may call me at 445 and send me somewhere, which is fine. I am just wondering how often that kind of thing happens. I worked a HH job for about 2 weeks after I got out of nursing school, but it wasn't like this. I had the same pediatric patient every day that I worked and it was a full 8 hour shift. I didn't really like that. From reading the site, the HH info people post her, seems more like I expected. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Just trying to make sure I get the best fit for my family.

Looking for hospitals in Clearwater area.
Hi! We are planning on moving in a few months and are starting our job search. We have family in Largo and want to move to that area. Currently work in Observation, we also get pulled to our CCU a few times a month. Anyway, trying to figure out what hospitals are out there and which ones are decent ones to work for regarding benefits and working conditions. Any help would be awesome. I really like the unit I am on now, and my manager and co-workers are awesome! I wish I could transplant them from Michigan to there! :) Thanks!

New RN off of orientation and stressed out!!!!!
People grow and learn from both their successes and their mistakes. I am a new grad as well... but I have lots of experience in other areas of life and this carries into nursing as well. Learn from it, and move on. And be kind to yourself, because you deserve it. Hugs.

Passed NCLEX, how long before # is posted on LARA?
Priority of care? I had tons of select all that apply type questions. With the priority of care you really just need to know if pt is stable. Which pt is most likely to go bad?

ASN or ADN??????
At the school I went to, we called the ASN we achieved "ADN". IDK why. :)

Newly graduated RN, HOH, scared.
Hi everyone. I posted here on this forum when I first got into nursing school. I am happy to say that I made it to graduation and I am beginning a new job in a few weeks. I am however, terrified that I am going to screw up due to "missing something". It hasn't happened in school, but now that I am licensed and ready to work, I honestly don't want to miss something that will hurt my self, or worse, someone else. If everyone would speak up, I could hear just fine... LOL I don't wear my hearing aids outside of work/school, unless I really need to. It doesn't seem to be a problem. I play contact sports, and wearing them is a no-no anyway. Right now, one of my hearing aids is working (the other was damaged) and I need to start working so I can get a new one. I went the whole last semester in school this way. It hasn't been a problem. Why am I so scared? I need some tips for HOH nurses so make sure that I am doing everything I can to protect myself and my patients. Thanks in advance.

Passed NCLEX, how long before # is posted on LARA?
I took the NCLEX on Friday, today I paid the 8 bucks and found out that I passed the test. I am currently on state assistance and need to find a job. I have applied for more than 75 positions, and have a lot of rejections. Mostly based on inexperience and the fact that I don't have a license and passing doesn't mean I can say I have one. I have to have a number. Any advice on what I can do or where I can apply that would increase my chances of getting a job would be great. But my biggest question is, how long did it take for the registration number to show up? I would really like to change my resume and be able to apply with "yes" when asked if I have a license.

Abusive and Cruel Clinical Instructors: Why??
I will be graduating in almost 2 weeks. I have noticed something that the original post said that is true. Most other student will just stand by and be happy that it isn't focused on them. Having an instructor tell us that the only way she feels that her students are learning is by her being tough with them seems ridiculous. We spent all this time learning that there are many ways to give patients educational materials, everyone has different learning abilities. This is no different for us as students. I don't expect all my patients to fit into one cookie cutter pattern of learning, but yet, I feel like my instructor does. I gained 30 lbs in the program over the last 2 years... and in the last 6 weeks, I have lost 25 of it. I just want to be done with this.

2010 Macomb Community College HESI scores
I am in the 1700's at MCC (as Michelle knows!!). I am really happy it worked out that I am there. I was very disappointment to not get into Baker, but with Baker's program, there are less clinical rotations and less time on the floor. I need that time. I can do the book work fairly easily... but practical use of the information, is a little harder for me, not hard in the traditional sense, but in a I am scared out of my mind to make a mistake kind of way. LOL I am liking the 1700's a bit easier. Although the clinicals are vastly different.

MCC - Nursing Students Starting 2009
If anyone wants to PM me, I can give you my email or FB name. I find it quicker to respond that way, because both those sites are easily found on my blackberry. What a frustrating day for me today. I need to get over the "someone watching over me" anxiety. :)

MCC - Nursing Students Starting 2009
Do we only have to wear our scrubs to Labs and not until week 2? I know Baker has to wear theirs to all their classes and I am getting confused. TIA!
