Hi. I start my school's ADN RN program in a week. My first semester consists of Pharmacology & Fundamentals of Nursing. I learned the abbreviations, dosage calculations, & pharm. terminology the teachers issued. We have multiple test the first week of school. I'm excited but I don't want to get too excited. Any Advice?

It's okay to cry and doubt your decision a few times. Don't let it discourage you. I felt that way and sometimes, even as a nurse, still feel that way once in a while. It's the nature of the job. It's exhausting and tiring and stressful.

Remember why you started. It will get tough and Somedays you'll question why you are doing this. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it's totally worth it!

Stay on top of the readings. If you miss something, it's hard to catch up.

Don't be afraid to ask questions about something you don't understand. Most teachers are very helpful and want you to succeed

Is "run like hell!" not the advice you were hoping for? LOL.....just kidding! :)
Read the assigned chapters. Answer questions the way your instructor wants the answers. Debate the debatable, and don't argue what is not arguable.
Study. Play.....rinse, repeat.
Good luck!

I start in 17 days! I have been so happy but got nervous last night for a little bit when I realized how soon I'll be starting. Do some fun things in your 9 days and watch some inspirational movies!

Study hard, ask questions, give yourself a few hours each week to relax and unwind. Don't worry...crying is normal, even after graduating.

I'm also starting my ADN program in a few days and I've been nervous about it too. But studying all summer has helped, I feel like I'm on top of my game, and tomorrow I'm going to hand in all of my required health documents, which will feel like an accomplishment in itself! I wish I could take my own advice, which is have fun for these last few days of freedom! Instead, I'm going to fret and pile on the tasks of things I think I need to get done and hope for the best, haha, obviously I need to work on my coping mechanisms!

First of all, congratulations on getting accepted to nursing school! I just finished the ADN program at my school. I would definitely recommend forming a study group. I cannot express how much having my nursing school buddies helped me out at school/clinical/life. After all, your nursing school classmates will basically become your family!

I was the rare case in that I was more than happy to get away from my "nursing school family". I agree that study groups are beneficial, but I studied better alone and I did just fine on my own. I'm saying this to tell you not to stress if you can't find a group that vibes with you. I couldn't, but I was okay with that. If you can find a study group, go for it! It definitely does help to bang heads together. But make sure the study group you choose is beneficial to you.
If you feel like your bff in your study group isn't a benefit to you, then respectfully cut ties study group wise, but let them know its nothing personal. After all, you have to do what's best for you.
