So who watches your kids while your here? I mean, do you really think they ask my dh as he delivers his mail, so who is watching your kids? NOOOOO!!! I don't make excuses for my career, I worked very, very hard to get my degree, it was not handed to me. I love my children, but being a nurse is as much part of my identity as being a mom. I love it, I never say, Ahhh man, I got to go to work. I enjoy being there. (This isn't to say that I don't enjoy my time off, lol) People just AMAZE me, my dh is a wonderful father. He makes them dinner every night, does Nicole's homework with her, gives bathes, does laundry, picks up etc....He is just as capable of taking care of our children as I am, yet I still get "the look" when I make a comment about having little ones. Then I get "so who is watching your children while your HERE?" I just want to say, Oh, nobody, I just leave them home with their doors shut in their rooms, they are fine:lol2:

Don't forget the padlock on the doors and the bars on the windows.

I hear you!!!! It is one of my biggest pet peeves. Since I'm in school now, people are really in awe.
Along the same vein is when people say, "Can your husband babysit your kids so you can _______________ tonight?" Um, people, it's not *babysitting*, I refer to it as PARENTING.
Whatever. I know that my children will be much better off seeing their mother in a career that matters and seeing their father capable of meeting their needs as competently (much more so in some areas) as I do.

I agree w/ Mandana, that it is PARENTING when dad watches the kids, not babysitting. Different things work for different families. You found something that works for your family. That is what matters.

As the father who stays at home (I work out of the home) while the mother goes to work (she does LDRP and I refuse to let her bring her work home with her:chuckle :chuckle) I want to say thank you. I hate being asked "so you're babysitting today?" No if I was babysitting I WOULD BE GETTING PAID! :rotfl: We homeschool as well, and I get tired of people asking my wife how she finds the time to do that. It's like I'm not capable of teaching. I say "father's stop babysitting and start parenting"

People ask me that all the time at work, and these are coworkers! (I started a new job) Once they found out I had 7 month old boy/girl twins, they ask "So who watches them?"
First of all, is it really anyone's business what our personal arrangements are?
I also get asked this comment alot when we're out with friends. "Where are your kids? Who's watching them?"
On Monday we had friends over to watch Monday night football, and they asked "where are they kids?"
Um, sleeping!! Duh!

i don't have kids yet but i understand how aggravating it would be to hear these kinds of questions. a lot of mothers have to work to be able to pay the bills. when i have kids, i hope to be able to stay home with them until they enter school. i know things may not work out that way and i do not look down on any mother that chooses or has to work outside the home. my mom stayed home with my brother and me mostly until i was 12. then she decided to go to nursing school. she became an lpn and i was very proud of her for that.
another thing that has always irritated me is when someone asks what a mother does. if she does not work outside the home, they say she does not work. raising kids and taking care of the day to day things is a lot of work.

I don't have kids but I would be irritated by people asking me that, too. It's none of their darn business!!!
