I Quit My Job Today! I'm so relieved!

Published

Yep! Quit the job today! Worked half a day, and quit. Won't get into the specifics because I'm suing the hospital, and won't stop there. I'll be on Dr. Phil telling the world about the pains of being a nurse today, and writing every political head that is involved with healthcare making sure they are brought up to date on the pains of nursing as well. I have a strong voice, and I intend to use it for my profession.

Going back to travel nursing, starting with seeking a travel contract in my hometown, then elsewhere. No more BS from those who love to strangle the shick out of nurses today. :nono:

Going on vacation for a few days before I get started with the lawsuit. I believe in standing up for what I believe in even if no one else believes what I believe. That is their choice to disagree, and my choice to pursue what I believe to be justice for myself as a professional nurse.

I'm going to make the world hear what is wrong with nursing today if it is the last thing I take on in my life. :nurse:

:chuckle :roll Thanks Theresa! You warrior you. :chuckle

Nursing has GOT to change its ways or there will always be nurses unhappy in their jobs, experienced nurses like me leaving the field before we would like to, and students will get whiff of the poison in the field and change majors. Then who will take care of the sick and dying 24/7 the way nurses do? Doctors???? I think NOT! :nono:

I'm sorry to hear that the stress got so bad that you had to quit your job! I hope (and will pray) that you find one that you like better soon. You seem like a caring person. I know it's hard to work at some places. I wish the short staffing problem could be solved and that we had more time to show more personal caring for patients.

Hello ohioln :)

Just wanted to thank you for your encouraging thoughts and kind words. When people start attacking us for who we are NOT, it is time to close up shop and take our goods elsewhere for those we leave behind do not appreciate "blessings in disguise" when they have it. Well...to me...it is a great loss to patients who cared for my kind of nursing, and a great loss to those who failed or chose not to learn from my kind of nursing.

We shout how free we are because we live in the United States, yet we condemn those who try to exercise that freedom of expression. We're damned when we try to do good for mankind, and we're damned if we fail to do good for mankind. Woe are we who give our best shot to mankind only to be stabbed in the back by those who envy our ability to stand up for justice.

Does not our country's legal system preach "innocent until proven guilty"? When did that phrase get switched around to say "Guilty until proven innocent?" Sounds like a lot of "dogs" are being wagged by their own "tail" instead of the dog being in control of the tail to me.

A hospital is a microcosm of the world. What we see aint necessarily what we get. What "LOOKS" good at first appearance, or "FEELS" good at first is the very thing that seems to turn around and bite us into "REALITY", and boy...does that "BITE" hurt! :(

Example:

When I first started that job, I was so excited, and felt so welcomed until I met the first person who gave me a glimpse inside of only the beginning of what I would endure as time passed.

I had such hopes for my career...returning to school, etc. Then just a few short weeks into the job, little by little I began to feel attacked by the reality of today's nursing.

Well.......the world is like that. What we initially think it is, it isn't. As time goes by, we learn that beauty around us has evil in its path. Then one day it engulfs us into reality.......and we scream "Helllllllpppppp!!!" and nobody hears us. It's too late! We're now trapped in its web, and the only way to get out of the mess is to fight "the spider" that led us deep into its web before attacking us like its enemy.

Once we free ourselves from its grip, we are never the same again. We no longer view the world (nursing) as we once believed it to be by what "the spider" tricked us into believing it would offer us.

Don't look at the modernization of the hospital, it's clean walls, its shiny floors as you enter it for beyond all that comes the reality we eventually get bitten with by the very "spider" that led us into its trap.

I read a book that talked about "hospitals being a microcosm of the world". And thus....it opened my eyes to the trap I was led into only to find it wasn't what it set me up to believe about it. :stone

Nonetheless.........I AM A SURVIVOR! I may no longer be in its web, but I saw a lot, learned a lot, and will build my case on a lot of what being in that "web" showed me about its environment. It is with that knowledge that I will fight back for justice for all nurses who were also caught in that same trap.

Stay tuned says Cheerfuldoer to "The Spider"..........for you aint seen or heard 'nuttin' yet. Ahhhhhh...sweet sweet justice! :D

Cheerful, you quit your job one day, and started on a two week vacation the next? DH got 2 weeks leave from overseas?

I'm glad you are able to take off for two weeks and travel, but the timing might appear a bit suspect to the hospitals attorneys.

I remember someone writing once and saying, "Have you ever noticed no one ever gets sick before a trip to Paris?"

...by the time this vacation is over, me and my electric smith corona (that's a typewriter for those of you who think smith corona is a new beer or something) :lol2:...

:rotfl: o.k....i'm now wondering what "or something" could be...lol :lol2:!!!

wow....this must be the season cuz i've just submitted my two week notice this past monday. some of my co-workers are genuinely sad to see me go...others are perturbed cuz it's too close to christmas....which may ruin their holiday (should they have to work my shift). i noticed some static before i'd left for the day this morning...ya know...attitude & signifying. one nurse has express her contempt for this place on many occasions...yet only this morning...she professed that this was the best job in her life (this is the only nursing job she's ever had) so she doesn't understand other people's grievances. ohhhh hurry-up dec 5!

i plan to work a few weeks agency (to make holiday money...don't want to use the credit cards this year)....then start at a new place (a large pediatric outpatient center)....clinical nursing has burned me out for now. besides...i'll now have nights, weekends, & holidays to pick-up extra agency shifts (to maintain my clinical skills).

well...i've probably said too much & had better stop...i've still got that week & a half left at this place to go ;).

cheers!

moe

ps...do whatever it takes to satisfy your need to expose your former employer renee! just don't let whatever missed-up thing(s) they've done poison you with revenge. i know i don't have to tell you who vengeance belongs to ;). he'll :kiss take care of it all~

Wow,It must be great to be able to tell your employer,"take this job and shove it" and sometimes and somedays I wish I could...But I dont have that luxery, family, mortage, dog, cat, fish, etc.and overall, when I count my blessings,I enjoy my work.

Your suing the hospital? How do you sue the whole damn hospital? I could see how you could sue and individual in the hospital..

I think Jesus tried to help humanity also and yet look what happened to him,and yet for Christians,he is our example and the mentor for how we shall live our lives.

Enjoy your vacation and good luck with your suit.

I respect you making the decision to leave and for standing up for what you believe in. I wish everyone would make the decision to report/confront businesses that have wronged them. Last month, I reported my old apartment complex to the Better Business Bureau and my ex-insurance agent (who I recently FIRED before taking my business elsewhere) to my state's Dept. of Insurance. It's *definitely* worth the time to file a complaint, and it goes on their record.

I wish you luck in your decision regarding the lawsuit. Just remember that in the eyes of the law, just like you said, the hospital is ALSO "innocent until proven guilty". Despite your feelings, it does go both ways. Now if they ARE proven guilty, then they deserve everything they get. :)

I wish you the best, and I hope you enjoy your vacation(s)!!!!

As far as the song, "Take This Job and Shove It," the song was definitely written for a reason.

And yes, this world has been TURNED UPSIDE_DOWN!

What once was right, now is accepted as wrong in many cases, and what once was wrong now is accepted as the acceptable thing to do in many cases.

GOD HELP US!:o

Fran

That may be true Franny, but as long as we keep our spiritual armor on while fighting the good fight, the bad guys don't stand a chance.

Hurrah for you!!! Best of luck whatever you do...I just quit, have 3 days left.
