I Quit My Job Today! I'm so relieved!

Published

Yep! Quit the job today! Worked half a day, and quit. Won't get into the specifics because I'm suing the hospital, and won't stop there. I'll be on Dr. Phil telling the world about the pains of being a nurse today, and writing every political head that is involved with healthcare making sure they are brought up to date on the pains of nursing as well. I have a strong voice, and I intend to use it for my profession.

Going back to travel nursing, starting with seeking a travel contract in my hometown, then elsewhere. No more BS from those who love to strangle the shick out of nurses today. :nono:

Going on vacation for a few days before I get started with the lawsuit. I believe in standing up for what I believe in even if no one else believes what I believe. That is their choice to disagree, and my choice to pursue what I believe to be justice for myself as a professional nurse.

I'm going to make the world hear what is wrong with nursing today if it is the last thing I take on in my life. :nurse:

cheerful writes: "I'm never sorry for standing up for myself as a nurse. I always stand on what I believe in...always always always! Now..........if the rest of the world's nurses would only follow suit, what a powerful force we would be in the beginnings of positive change for the nursing profession."

And THAT says it all. But there is no indication that this will ever happen.

I followed you many months through your search for a job as you questioned yourself, considered a lot of positions, turned in applications, made phone calls, explored working in different states, interviewed, through numerous blind alleys and dead ends, until you got your most recent job. It takes a lot of work to try to convince oneself that "this time it will be different," and to re-energize one's mind and body to even give nursing another try, and I know that after all this effort and personal investment it took guts to quit (having quit about a dozen nursing jobs myself--the last of which is in litigation, as is yours).

No matter how good or effective we might potentially be as nurses if we were in a halfway functional working environment, after a number of these repetitions it seems obvious that some of us (about 20% of currently-licensed registered nurses) have no realistic choice but to move into a completely different field.

I wish you the best.

I'm 100 % behind Cheerful too.

One of the things I always do is: try to see the opposing point of view. What would they have to critisise? Is there an area of my

complaint that is weak?

Nursing has changed !!

I think Cheerful's being out of nursing, -a stay at home mom-the past 5 years could be a weak area of a legal complaint.

The opposition might jump on that .....

And, the opposition can turn around and bring legal charges against the complainant.

Just look at all the possibilities, I think, before jumping.

Hi passing thru :)

The five years previous to my returning to work (nursing) were not spent as a "stay-at-home mom". My last baby left home as a full grown adult nine years ago. She is 27 years of age today, happily married, and they have blessed me with four beautiful grandchildren. :)

The reason I was out of work was due to a serious injury to my right shoulder that was slow mending and required much physical therapy to prevent surgery. I made it through that crisis, and couldn't have been more excited to FINALLY be able to return to a career that I loved! :) By the way........this injury was NOT caused by patients, and I collected "ZIP" $$$$ during that time. I simply used that period to heal physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.........a long painful journey too. :o

Thanks for your 100% support! :)

cheerful, you quit your job one day, and started on a two week vacation the next? dh got 2 weeks leave from overseas?

i'm glad you are able to take off for two weeks and travel, but the timing might appear a bit suspect to the hospitals attorneys.

hello again "passing thru",

just want to clarify some "errors" in your above statements:

my husband paid for his own leave this week to come home (not two weeks, by the way).

i applied and received approval for the week dh would be home four months ago, so no......that is not the issue at all.

i had no intention of leaving my job until mid-january. they knew that, dh knew that, everyone knew that........again.....not an issue.

as for attorneys twisting things to the opponents advantage..........well...........that's what attorneys get paid for, but you see.......my one and true defense is my father god, and he always has the last word...........no matter what these earthly attorneys and judges say. so, again......not an issue.

i was tricked into a meeting with the nurse manager...no prior knowledge of that meeting, and a trap was laid for me by three individuals.......the nurse manager, one of the shift managers, and the employee relations person. all three were wrong in their attack against me, and that is why i am going to bring these three individuals down. i have no fear in talking about what happened because what i said yesterday, i say today, and i'll say tomorrow and the only way a human being can do that is by always telling the truth as things really occurred and not as they want them to appear. i was attacked, called a liar in more ways than one by the nurse manager, and no matter what my side of things were, i was still a liar. she has spit on my character and profession as a nurse, my character as a person, and therefore will not be allowed to get away with what she did to me that day. there are two other staff members involved and they will get theirs too.

so, as far as "the how and why" of the way i handle these issues will remain a mystery until the timing is ripe! ;)

Cheerful,I have been in a similar situation, trapped in a room, closed doors with DON and 2 supervisors, but if there are no witnessess to the wrongs of these people then its your word against theirs. I wanted to sue also, but couldnt,my word against theirs, and I think that was a good thing I couldnt sue as my God wills that I forgive as he forgives me and that I love my enemies.

((((((ohbet)))))) sending some love your way for i know the pain of not being able to prove oneself innocent, but our god reigns and justice will prevail! amen! :kiss

you are absolutely right about the word of god stating that we should not sue one another. you are also 100% right about the word of god stating we should forgive and love our enemies (as christ first loved us). thank you for that reminder! no matter what i decide to do regarding that situation, i first laid it at my jesus feet and so the burden is now his and not mine. justice is already in the works. i believe that 100%! no one shall lay a hand on me or touch a hair on my head without my father's permission. i know this to be true within my spirit, so whatever the father will call me to do regarding that situation with the nurse manager and several others involved will not be in revenge, but in love for what my father god directs my steps to do. i'm not seeking money...i'm going to bring to light all that destroys those nurses like yourself, others like us, and myself. the hospitals can bring them in, but they sure can't keep them because of the lies, the injustice, the wrongdoings cast our way by "tptb" and their little evil helpers.

don't you worry ohbet. my god has everything under control! :kiss

I'm sorry you quit your job. What I urge you to know up front is that the Travel industry may make you do it again. It has changed and you will find that many places may remind you of the job you quit from as far as that is concerned.

I have been in the Travel Nursing job scene for 3 years. There are times when I know that staff has a better situation going and that we have the shorter end of the stick.

The place to be is on staff at a better hospital that will treat you right. Travel Nursing is excellent for a while but then you think I should belong somewhere and stop being a nomad.

To all nurses,

Cheerful appreciates your comments, etc. I know, because she's my Christian sister, and I back her up all the way.

We all intend to do good, by giving advice, etc. However, we all come from different environments, backgrounds, etc. that lead us to think the way we do. But sometimes good intentions become misconstrued, because we all tend to give advice, suggestions, etc. based on our own points of view, which can lead to misunderstandings.

As I mention in the introductory message in my book, "We all are like snowflakes; all very different, yet alike in some ways, but all very beautiful in God's eyes."

God gave us all free choice. Deut:30:19; This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.

And ohbet,

You are correct in what you say about forgiving those who hurt you, and loving your enemies which Jesus said in Matt.5:43-47. But Jesus was telling the people that acts of kindness are what win unbelievers over; not being vengeful.

A good example of that is where Paul was correcting the Christians in Corinth 1Cor.6:5--8, because they were taking one another to court, etc. and were an eyesore to unbelievers, because they were not acting like Christians. The Lord said vengence is His, not ours.

Do you think Jesus was acting as an unbeliever when He kicked the merchants out of the temple? Of course not; He was acting in righteous anger. This is where Cheerful is coming from.

Believers were also told to obey those over them as in the Lord, meaning as long as they are not breaking the law of love. However, if someone in authority wants an individual to do what he/she says, and it's against that law, then the believer does NOT have to obey.

Cheerful, correct me if I'm wrong please.

Cheerful wants to take action against the disrespect, the abuse, and all else that nurses currently are forced to face. The nursing profession is one to be honored and respected; not to be abused. WE DO NOT HAVE TO ALLOW OURSELVES BE DOORMATS to be stepped on, or smeared with dirt.

Did we not all become nurses because we love to help others live better lives? This is what Cheerful wants to get back for all nurses. And her purpose is not to hurt others, but to correct an industry gone very wrong.

Sincerely,

Fran:nurse:

my dear dear sister fran, i couldn't have said it any better if i'd written it myself! you speak the truth in all of your comments. "like spirits" think alike! just like our father god desires for us to, eh? :kiss

Hello LadyNASDAQ :)

I KNOW full well how much the Travel Industry has changed from when I travelled years ago because I've been dealing with record numbers of them recently by email and telephone. The money they offer to travel isn't worth its weight in gold. So far..........I'm NOT impressed with their offers! :p

As for leaving my job......I am in NO WAY sorry for doing so! It was bad for my health in EVERY way. I never regret making a decision that brings healing to my body. If I do something that robs my body, mind and soul of health and wellbeing, then that is when I regret my decisions........and then only. :)

My DH and I have not made a permanent decision on which location we will settle down in come next Spring. Meanwhile, I am free to travel for work, or just work agency, or even hire on somewhere else in many different states to get a good feel for where I'd like to possibly be on a permanent basis.

I will also be a PT/RN ACTIVIST for the duration of my earthly days by bringing attention to all that destroys nurses to the point of causing them to quit, and sometimes to never return. That is what I'm taking with me from the previous place of employment. I learned much there about how I do NOT want to nurse, and will do everything in my power to bring that abuse to light for politicians everywhere to see and act accordingly to bring about a positive change for nurses, etc.

Thanks for your comments! :nurse:
