...I had three self-harm related meetings today. They all came up yesterday at the very end of the school day. And one was the one that hits you the hardest: the kid that isn't on any radar and clearly you see needs the help the most.

I hope you gave THEM a hug, but here's one for you too.

Um, of course I did. Several. And several more to the parents trying to work with us to get each child the supports they need.
Wow. These students got a ton of support, but we as caregivers, need to give each other support as well. School nurses don't often have anyone to debrief with like many other nurses do.

Love and lots of hugs. I am so glad you are there for them and they now know they have you as an additional support person.

Thank you for being the miracle that you are. You see it. You "get it". You see this person. You just changed their world for the better because you noticed and you cared.
Congratulations! Your one of the people I look up to!

I agree. We always had debriefings in the ER after particularly tough cases, but people in the school don't think about what the school nurse has to deal with on a day to day basis.
You can always come here to "debrief" with us. I debrief with our guidance counselors since we are often involved in these cases together. There is one guidance counselor in particular that I go to and she comes to me when we are particularly stressed over situations.
Hope you enjoyed your glass of wine and time with friends the other night!
