I can not get into a nursing school and I am getting so freaken frustrated! I've applied to over 10 schools, and so far I have been getting rejection letters/emails. It is so depressing that I cry every single night, and I mean EVERY single night. Schools are constantly changing their requirements and it is getting so frustrating. First the school requires, TEAs 3, than TEAs 4, and now they want TEAs 5. Meanwhile, other schools want the skanky GRE. I've applied to community colleges, accelerating programs, and even private schools and still... no acceptance letter. I already have a bachelors degree in another field and an overall GPA of 3.1. I got a "B" in Anatomy. "B" in Physiology and an "A" in Microbiology. What am I doing wrong here? Can someone let me know what schools would accept me and does not require TEAs or a high TEAs score? I am willing to move out of State. Please let me know what schools are not so competitive in the US.
Thank you.
Booger.

sorry to hear that. What state are you in? Many schools now have transitioned to the TEAS 5 and will not take anything else. I am in California, there are a lot of schools here that are lottery based, maybe you should try it?
If those schools you applied to were not lottery based but GPA based, then most likely it meant that there were many applicants with more competitive GPA and Teas score than yours. But don't give up, try California!

I am sorry you are going through this. I attend The College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas and I really believe that you would have a very good chance at getting in. I am on my iPod so I don't know how to cut and paste on here but if you go to my postings I have posted to another thread and have explained in detail the selection process the school uses. I have a total of I believe 7 pages of postings. If you go to page 4 there is a thread titled "How bad is an "F" in a science course?". If you click on that thread and go to page 3 (which is the last page) you will scroll down till you find my posting I explain in detail how the point system works. When I get on my desk top computer I will post the link. The schools website is http://www.Csn.edu.
Don't give up on your dream. If you are willing to move I really think you could get into this college. Let me know if you have any other questions.

You can try St. Louis Community College in Saint Louis, MO. They have 3 campuses with Nursing Programs and you have to pass a dosage calculation test with a score of 90%, but no GRE or TEAS. Once you pass the test and have already taken Biology and Chemistry you go on the waiting list until your number comes up...I've been told the wait is about 2 years though, don't know if you're willing to wait that long.

Awww I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. I know it seems so stupid to have to go through all that just to finish your education. I think each state is so different you may be better off looking at schools where you want to move to, I would love to have done something like that if I could have :) Could be an exciting opportunity. Our school did that with the TEAS too but if you took the 4 before the deadline then tehy still accpeted it and I think thats fair, I think it's ridiculus that they expect you to keep taking a new one. I wish you the best of luck! Hang in there if thats really what you wanna do but there's no shame in switching either...

At Dallas County Community College in Texas they are GPA based and they use the HESI A2 to determine entrance.

Don't give up..keep trying. I've been rejected my 2 schools so far but I am applying to many more. I also have a BA and my science GPA is only a 3.3 I have to retake TEAS IV, take TEAS V and HESI A2. The different requirements are insane. But don't give up. I live in CA and it's really frustrating. Try schools that are out-of-state. Try University of Southern Nevada if you can relocate.

I just put a post up "Do not give up...I got into nursing school!". If this is what you REALLY want to do (which it sounds like you do), then do not give up!!!! It WILL happen. I live in NH, and Rivier College is where I am going to go. You do not take the TEAS, but you do take the NLN. Massachusetts is a great place to live if you want to go to nursing schools! They have some of the best hospitals over in Boston! UMass Lowell (basically all of the UMass schools require a 3.24 GPA...that being said, your GPA is still good, and your science grades are also good!) is a good place to apply. Call, make appointments, email...do not just be another applicant in a pile of applicants...that is the BEST advice I can give you! I made an appointment with the head of the nursing division at Rivier. I told her that I am not good at standardized tests, but that it is not a reflection of how I will do in the program. I expressed to her just how much I want this, and why I want it! You want them to know that you have a passion for this...then you will stand out

I go to Rutgers University in Camden and its not so competitive. They don't require TEAS V or any nursing entrance exam. I actually got a spot in my nursing program straight from high school.
They are accepting transfers but you have to have completed all your pre-reqs (Biology 101, Sociology 101, Psychology 101, English Comp I and II, Stats for Soc Sci, Cult Anthro, Chemistry I and II) at Rutgers-Camden by the end of the Spring 2011 semester. If you finish all these pre-reqs and have atleast a 3.0 GPA you MIGHT get a spot in the program that is if you beat out the 40 or so applicants trying to transfer into the nursing program. Also, if you DO get accepted as a transfer then you have to take the Seminar in Professional Nursing class in the summer. I am taking that seminar now since I am already in the nursing program :]
Hello everyone. Thank you all for your kind words. After all of the comments and support I received on allnurses.com, I decided to keep on applying and not give up. One of the many schools I applied to was City College of San Francisco, and this morning I finally received an acceptance letter! When I saw the letter I cried, and this time the tears were tears of happiness. I want to thank everyone for their support, and wish the best of luck to all of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you and...
Thank you!!!
